You have to love the game of baseball.

Sox tied 5-5 top of the 7th with Grilli pitching:

1st pitch to Konerko- double
1st pitch to JD - single
1st pitch to AJ - 3 run homer

3 pitches and the Sox take a 8-5 lead.

Didn't Quentin and Crede rip the 1st pitch for singles, too? I know for sure Crede did.

Grilli definitely threw a ball to somebody after AJ's at-bat, because the Detroit fans sarcastically cheered that pitch for not getting hit. They also cheered very loudly when he threw his first strike.

I wish they would do this every game. I shudder when they play corpseball.

Working the count is something the offense should do to win.

Working the count is something the offense should do to win.I think the OP was including a heavy amount of sarcasm as the title... 1st pitch hits isn't exactly working the count...

It also helps when you have Grilli throwing the ball to the plate.

Well, this is just one occurrence. The Sox are taking a lot of walks so far this year.

That is because Hawk is stealing signals and relaying them to the batters via the scoreboard. :D:

Swisher helps, first AB today (sat.) 8 pitch walk. However, after him, Cabrera 2 pitch fly out, Thome 2 pitch out, Konerko 1 pitch ground out.
