I'm curious at this point would Jeff Weaver accept a minor league contract and should the Sox offer one? The reason I ask is what if one of our starters get hurt? Or DAnks, Floyd or Contreras really suck?

For a minor league contract I would. You can never have too many arms. They might be bad arms but they are arms none the less:tongue:

Absolutely no reason to do that.

Why not? What does a minor league contract hurt? Does Birmingham's success really impact ya?

He's not going to take a minor league deal, he can take his 6 something ERA and pitch anywhere he wants EXCEPT for the Sox.

He might take a minor league deal, to just have a job.....I would rather have him as our emergency guy instead of Tomo Okah or whatever his name is.

Ohka has a 5 ERA, I don't really want to see either guy on the club, but at least in ST Ohka was getting guys out. Also if I had to choose between a guy with a five something ERA and a six something ERA I'd probably go with the five something guy...assuming death was not an option.

It's surprising an NL team never picked him up. He was decent with LA a few years ago, and then ok with the Cardinals in '06, especially in the playoffs. Heck, with the Cardinals' list of injured pitchers, why didn't they try to pick him up?

With Pedro getting hurt, the Mets may be interested. He will find a home somewhere though.

I don't see him getting a major league deal, I can see a minor league deal, with him put on the 40 man roster

If we're reduced to trotting out Jeff Weaver every 5th day, I'd rather have KW and Ozzie just throw in the towel on '08 and bring up Broadway, Egbert, Haeger and let them start earning their spots in 2009.

There's history between the Sox and Weaver; they drafted him and he did not sign. I don't foresee KW having any interest.
