how bad is that Konerko comcast commercial with the "i don't run" sign...unintentionally hilarious

That commercial is awful. It's actually painful to watch.

Advertising professionals came up with this? And the Sox approved it?

What they don't show in the commercial is that the umpire actually calls him out as he rounds second due to the fact that he hit it off of the Indians.

I just saw the Konerko one...yet to see the Swisher one.

I like the premise of these ads, but the Konerko one seemed a little poorly done; a lot of jumping around from Konerko to the guy with the sign to Ozzie to Konerko to the guy with the sign, etc. The Ozzie parts should have been omitted, IMO.

I'd like to see more players doing these commercials

Uribe holding a "I don't Do anything well" sign.

Jenks holding a "I don't shave" sign

I liked the Konerko one. Is the Swisher one the one with the Vazquez strikeout? I caught most of that, but I must've missed something, I thought that was really stupid

Yes it was, but I liked that one, because I think that one kind of fits Swisher's ego....he just seems to be a guy that would act like that over a measly strikeout....He loves the game.

I laughed. The Swisher one was funny, too. I REALLY like the HE GONE commercial when the UPS guy tries to deliver a package to a house with nobody there.

With ANY commercial, you're not going to get 100% of fans liking or hating them. Although I'd say about 100% of everybody hates those Haray Caray commercials. At least they are trying, and they have some positive feedback from fans.

I'm sure there's bigger things to worry about than some commercials that don't live up to your standards...

I liked the Konerko one the first time I saw it....but that was enough. If I see that commercial 4 times a game though, I might have to just Tivo every game and start a hour behind to skip through all the ads.

I actually liked the commercials. I guess I'm just a little wierd. It was better than the Aaron Rowand going to hell commercial.

I thought the Paulie one was very well done; including the cut aways to Ozzie. It was like "Did he really just do that?"

Of course it looks hokey, its meant to be hokey. And doing a riff on Paulie's lack of speed is a great way of getting the attention of Sox fans who might have strayed away. Those who want to stay away from Sox games are going to do so no matter what, but those who might not be as into the Sox as they were a few years ago might get a laugh or two and think of getting back into some games.

I have to catch the Swisher one when I get the chance.

I got them in an email but they don't work. Does anyone know where they are online? On the official Sox website they only have the commercials from last year.

I thought the PK commercial was kinda funny. It's much better than that horrendously awful "I'm too sexy for my Kia" commercial.

The first time I saw the commercials I thought they were amusing. After seeing them more than once, I'm finding them boring and uninspiring. Plus after turning off the audio on the TV and replacing it with the radio, they remind me how much I dislike Hawk and his Hawkisms.

And I agree with Law11, the editing is bad. That's the trouble when you try to match new footage with existing footage. You would think a good editor could have matched things up better.

I don't think that it's a jab at PK's lack of speed so much as PK saying, "Hey, I hit home runs, I don't have to run fast", but maybe that's just me.

I don't think its a jab either; as Paul himself makes jokes about his lack of speed. (Which I found hilarious when he stole a base on Greg Maddux last year or the year before. If I'm remembering it correctly, Maddux stole a base on one of the Sox pitchers, then Paulie returned the favor the very next inning.)

I view it the same way I take the mid-inning video they show at the Cell to the Star Wars theme.

If anyone notices, they have Chewbacca's howl when Paulie is shown running. Chewie wasn't a speed threat either.
