OK it's a day early... sorry! :D:

I want to wish the Sox players, coaches and organization a successful 2008 campaign. May they remain healthy and able to compete at a high level.

Best wishes along the same lines to all Sox fans. May they be happy and healthy over the course of the 2008 season.

For my son and his buddy Paul, opening day is today. They'll be at the Nats opener. Jeff has business there tomorrow, so he flew to DC a day early to take in the game with his friend who lives there.

Hopefully we won't have to deal with what we did last season again!

173-0 is a dream; but, let's get as close to that as possible.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone who sits around me in 8 days.

It is Opening Day for me too because I'll also be at the Nats game tonight. Its going to be a bit chilly, so it will feel just like being at a Sox home opener... except for watching an inferior team.

With our April schedule and the questionable starting pitching, you may be rethinking that in about 32 days or so.

"Lip, people will come Lip. They'll come to the Southside for reasons they can't even fathom. They'll exit at 35th Street (or Pershing rd.) not knowing for sure why they're doing it. They'll arrive at the ticket booth as innocent as children, longing for the 2005. Of course, we won't mind if you look around, you'll say. It's only $20 per person. They'll pass over the money without even thinking about it: for it is money they have and peace they lack. And they'll walk out to the bleachers; sit in shirtsleeves on a perfect afternoon. They'll find they have reserved seats somewhere along one of the baselines, where they sat when they were children and cheered their heroes. And they'll watch the game and it'll be as if they dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick they'll have to brush them away from their faces. People will come Lip. The one constant through all the years, Lip, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Lip. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Lip. People will most definitely come."

Jeez....it's "Opening Day Eve"...no room for Grinch's.

We've added Swisher, Cabrera, Ramirez, Quentin, Linebrink, Dotal to the mix. Ozuna is healthy, Crede is healthy (or as least healthier), Uribe has had a fire lit under him, Paulie/Thome/AJ/Dye/Buehrle/Contreras all have a chip on their shoulder from the embarassment of 2007, Anderson has matured, Jenks and Javy are studs, Logan and Thornton have another year under their belts. MacDougal, Hall and Masset? Well....they're trying really hard. (there's only so much room for blind optimism).

And we now have Jeff Cox on our side and Stoney in the booth.

Play Ball!

Thanks, Lip and back at ya'.

I have no idea what to expect this season. Some people say 5th or if we're lucky 3rd. Some people say 3rd and if we're lucky 1st. The arguments for both are passionate and the players they revolve around are myriad.

The posters here at WSI can't seem to make up their mind as to which player is good and which player sucks and who should be starting and ready or not here come the games.

It's time for baseball...:gulp:

Watching the Braves-Nationals game tonight made me realize how glad I am that baseball's back. I gotta go to class 15 minutes after the first pitch is thrown in Cleveland tomorrow, but I'll take what I can get. Nonetheless, I'm pumped for another season of White Sox baseball!:bandance:

After the abyss that has been Chicago sports since the time Devin Hester returned the opening kickoff in the Super Bowl, I'm just looking forward to a fresh start and being able to get home from work and watch some baseball. Should be a fun year....it defintiely won't be worse than last year or the past Bulls and Bears seasons, thats for sure.

Here in Chicago, it has been a cold, long winter. I can remember shoveling snow this winter and thinking, when is this ever going to end!?! To help me cope, I would daydream about summer and my beloved White Sox. I'd close my eyes think about a warm summer day, the smell of food at tailgating parties, the look of pride and joy of Sox fans gathering for a game at Sox park. I'd imagine the crack of the bat and the roar of the crowd and ...

Now, it's all coming back. Can't wait! Can't wait! Can't wait! Go Sox!
