Both the Sox and Mets are not wearing their usual uniforms for this game. Anyone know why?

The uniforms are generic looking, but I'm sure they'll get auctioned off by MLB.

Joe Morgan thinks Swisher leading off today is just an attempt by Ozzie to experiment. :rolling:

Those aren't Negro League uniforms, are they?

They did it last year, too, and nobody is exactly sure why. They're not Negro League uniforms, they aren't throwbacks, they're just really plain and generic. Maybe MLB is trying to make some point with that, but I'm not quite sure what.

The font appears to be that of the game logo. Maybe?

I also think that they are plain looking, but as stated before they are probably going to be actioned off by MLB.

I can't imagine who would actually bid on them

Still looking for a good pic of the White Sox, but here is what the Mets wore... The Sox jersey was the exact same except they said CHICAGO in the same block lettering, in black on a grey jersey and pants.

per uniwatchblog, these are just a once a year sort of things and are really just a way for MLB to make more money (though granted that money will probably go to worthy MLB charities). The Mets really ****ed up by wearing their black hat (which they shouldn't even have in the first place) with a uniform that has BLUE font letters. But then again the Mets have ****ed up in about every uniform change since introducing the black color scheme in about 1998. The White Sox uni looked OK, nothing special, but not horrible.

BTW: Was that Dump in the right field stands on the ball that Quentin hit that should have been ruled a 3 run HR?

Actually, I liked the block lettering on the Sox road jersey better than the script they really use. It looked like the fifties road jerseys.

I could use a new couch cover. Perhaps I'll bid on Toby Hall's or Juan Uribe's.

I actually would have considered buying one of these if it came with a White Sox patch on the other arm.

You could probably buy a patch at Grandstand and sew it on yourself. You'd probably get 100 people a game ask you where you bought your jersey at? :D:

We thought it was at first, but Dump said he'd be wearing his parade jacket and that guy had on a #8 jersey IIRC.

Pretty sure I saw Dump from afar yesterday, and he was wearing the parade jacket.
