Twins banged up after 22 games
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota Twins are having some early season health problems.
Three starters -- shortstop Cristian Guzman (sore knee), first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz (sore back) and right fielder Brian Buchanan (sore back) -- were held out of the lineup Thursday against Tampa Bay.
Backup catcher Tom Prince also has a sore wrist.
Designated hitter David Ortiz is on the disabled list and expected to miss 2-to-3 weeks to recover from arthroscopic surgery he had Thursday on his left knee to remove a bone chip.
Second baseman Luis Rivas and starting pitcher Joe Mays are also on the DL. Rivas, who broke a wrist when hit by a pitch in the second game of the season, is out at least another week. Mays has an inflamed right elbow and might not be available for two months.
