1984 was the year Sox fans not only had the disappointment of watching a losing team that EVERYBODY had forecast as a division winner, they had to watch their scoreboard issue a congratulations to the Cubs winning their "first title of any kind since 1945."

Costas did a Chicago Tonight interview with Bob Sirrott about three years ago where he talked about his stint with the Bulls. I believe he only did road games.

the alcs was on channel 32? i thought the playoffs were national games?

They were indeed nationally televised games but 1983 was the last season where local TV could broadcast LCS games. In Chicago you could watch the game either on channel 32 or on 5 if you wanted the national broadcast.
