Dotel? Linebrink? someone else?

I voted for Linebrink just because he has looked so good this spring, another nice inning today with 2 k's lowering his spring ERA to 2.79. Plus he was a heck of a setup man for Hoffman back in San Diego. I seriously think this will be a rebound year for him, after last years disappointing season.

Linebrink gets first shot, taking previous success and health into consideration. They both might have rough patches throughout the year, but I'd start with Linebrink for the 1st month, then just ride the hot hand.

I'm thinking that the 8th inning will mostly belong to Dotel, I'm sure Linebrink will sometimes work there as well but I think if you go Linebrink, Dotel then Jenks, you should be looking pretty good.

I think they'll all be needed.

Saying "Linebrink in the 7th, Dotel in the 8th, Jenks in the 9th", is easier said than done.

It'll be a combination. Dotel may even get some save opps when Jenks goes a few days in a row.

With the bad spring Dotel has had, I would not have him as the primary setup man. That role has to go to Linebrink. I'd go to MacDougal or Thornton in the eighth before I use Dotel. And I hate MacDougal (the MacDougal of last year; here's hoping for new and better year for the guy).

I think MacDougal will have a great season. Just a hunch.

He's really buckled down this spring after getting hammered his first couple outings.

That ERA around 5 is a bit deceptive because it was around 20 something at the start of the spring.

I don't even want Dotel touching the 6th inning right now. Hopefully it's just his stuff not working in Arizona...yeek. :o:

I mentioned this in another thread...MacDougal has not given up an ER since March 3rd. He's quietly having a good spring.

I'm thinking Linebrink mainly because Dotel and Jenks have the same velocity on their fastballs and I would rather have a little change in speed between my set up guy and closer. Last year we tried all die hard speed in the bullpen and we sucked. So lets try for a change to work.

Linebrink.
