What was this, 2-3 days after being named as the probable Cubs closer?

I kind of feel sorry for the guy, but not with that organization for repeatedly pinning hopes on him.

Yep. Spring is here. :D:

I don't understand why they don't just slide Marmol in there, as he's their best option by far. Oh, the Cubs. You can't make this stuff up.

Hasn't Kerry Wood spent more time in Mesa than Chicago?

I saw a couple of crows outside when I was smoking.

I don't believe I am saying this, but say what you will about the guy, he took a pay cut (or at least that is what I have been told) to stay with the Cubs because he basically felt that they paid him for nothing in previous years. I think that is pretty classy. He was damaged though from high school. He had coach that did the damage. I feel for the guy.

You know, it really is sad. I feel bad for the guy. But I couldn't help but chuckle a little bit.

I just hope our guys stay healthy this year. Last year wasn't fun at all. And I hope Wood gets healthy. I'd rather have the Cubs fail with him 100%, so the team and fans don't have any excuses.

You can't just blame his high school coach. The Cubs rode his arm pretty hard his rookie year down the stretch.

The bbq chicken fingers came with two packets of Sweet Baby Ray's bbq sauce.

There's plenty of blame on both the high school coach and the Cubs. But Mr. Balsa deserves some of the blame too. He had been told more than a few times by different people about his bad mechanics, how his across the body motion was bad for the shoulder, and he does not listen. He knows best.

It did. And it was glorious.

There will always be excuses. It's what keeps cubs fans together and loyal.

Tons of talent plagued by bad injury luck, but most of all bad mechanics.

Eh, whatever, let's blame Dusty, sounds good to me. He ran Wood, Prior, and before that, Robb Nen into the ground.

Currently he has his eyes set on Joey Votto and Homer Bailey.

This is all just a scheme so Wood can set the single-season record for simulated saves.

I wonder if swinging the sledgehammer to help trash the strength/conditioning coach's car yesterday had anything to do with his sore back?

Already heard a sports radio update guy, 'seems like it always happens to the Cubs', no dip****, injuries and setbacks happen to every team

He should talk to former Sox closer Dustin Hermanson. He needs to buy that drink, you guys know the one, remember that commercial? (thunder clap)

Seriously, why they hired him who those talented arms is crazy stuff.

Isn't Votto a 1B?

But he is already ruining promising young hitters like Votto and Bruce by telling them to swing instead of taking walks.

I agree! He is a class act and one of the few Cubs I have ever liked. Plus he's the player that took a bat to Sammy Sosa's clubhouse boom box after Sammy ditched the team for the last game of the season in 2004.

So, you all do realize Balsa pitched today, right? (http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080320&content_id=2446723&vkey=spt2008gamer&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc)
