March 30 is opening day for the Nationals. They open their new stadium this night and the game is televised on ESPN. Why is it only one game at home against the Braves then they go on the road to open a three game set against the Phillies?

I remember reading about how Washington was lobbying to get the opening Sunday Night game. Maybe the schedule was already set, with them opening on the road, but they switched one game just to give them the opening game without screwing up the rest of the schedule too much? Or maybe they did it just so, in case the stadium wasn't ready in time, they'd only have to postpone one game?

Hmmm, hadn't noticed that, weird, anewman brings up a good point, maybe Atlanta was scheduled to open at home, and they just took a future meeting between those two teams, gave them an off day, and are doing this one game to "open" the season.
