This has probably been mentioned, but I'm looking at Jose on TV right now and he looks a little chunky. Has anyone heard whether he gained weight this winter, or has anything been made of this? I suppose it doesn't matter if he's still effective, but it's still slightly worrying. (I'm too lazy to look these things up myself...that's why I have WSI...right?:D:)

He looks pretty trim to me.

He looks the same to me. Are you watching on a normal TV or an HDTV? I am watching on a normal TV, and it looks distorted. I know this is a widescreen broadcast, so maybe the regular broadcast got screwed up somehow because of it.

I don't really care if he is more chunkier than last year or not as long as he comes to play this year and does not yield as many runs than last year.

He looks the same to me, if not maybe a tad trimmer. I've heard a lot of people define him as a workhorse. Not quite on the level of Brandan McCarthy, but still.

I also noticed that in his delivery to the plate, he doesn't bring his arms/hands over his head anymore like he used to. Hopefully this will keep him in control, he can focus on the target throughout his entire delivering motion, and deliver more effective pitches.

Should we go through this with every big guy? :?:

Contreras looks no different than he has in the past. He's a big guy...just like Jenks and Swisher.

Seems like he's normal to me. Slow, gives up first inning runs, and can't hold runners.

I wish I was as "chunky" as Jose.

I too think Jose looks trim. In fact this is my arguement against the people who think he's "fifty" or some other ridiculous age. The guy is a rock. He looks a little old in the face, but he's in shape. I think Jose wins 15 this year.

The regular season cannot start soon enough.

The camera adds 10 pounds.

So how many cameras are actually on him?

I think Contreras will do well this year. Keep in mind that he's moving down in the rotation, will have less pressure, few family problems, and hopefully decent run support.

I think it's more realistic to predict a ceiling of 13-14 wins, but who knows?

Oh the season cannot start soon enough!

Come to think of it....Pablo Ozuna was looking like he was packing a little junk in the trunk. It could have been the camera angle though. Maybe Nutrisystem should start providing all the meals for the players.

"Big Sweaty" is at least 50.

I don't care if he is chunky, just as long as his ERA is not chunky as well. Supposedly he has a new girlfriend and is happy, so you know what happens...he let himself go. :D:

I was down by the field and went up and watched him in the pen in his start on sunday against SD. The dude looked pretty friggin trim. Like some of you said. I wish I looked that "chunky".
