Ken Harrelson's Nehru jackets and Beatle haircuts were the topics of some not-so-flattering conversation on Monday's's White Sox-Royals broadcast on KCSP in Kansas City

I never imagined Hawk being GQ.

I can't believe anybody bothered to write that column. It had absolutely nothing to say. "He used to wear a fashion that we now think is silly." Wow.

Owen Wilson would play a smashing Ken Harrelson.

I think Denny is jealous that Hawk had style and he didn't.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ! Hey look ! Those people used to wear bell bottoms and polyester shirts in the '70's ! What idiots !

Ha ha ha ha ! Hey look ! Those people used to wear parachute pants and leg warmers and turned up collars in the '80's ! What idiots !

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ! Hey look ! Those people used to dress in the "Grunge" style in the 1990's ! What idiots !

Agreed, why is this even an article ?

I cant believe how bad we dressed in those days, I never bought a Nehru jacket but did have some outragious sports coats, shirts and ties. Actually owned 4 liesure suits which at times I wore with white patent leather belts and shoes.

I heard the exchange on Gameday Audio, and it actually didn't seem very mean spirited at all. They KC guys had a rather lengthy interview with Hawk before the game with Hawk talking about his love for Finley.

Okay, so people in the 70s wore Nehru jackets and leisure suits. And women in the 20s bobbed their hair. And?

IMO, this is, as others have said, a nonstory. thirty or so years from now, people will probably be making fun of face piercings and extreme tattoos.

So what?

I was watchin one of those Jane Austen movies the other day. The women wore nothing but floor-length dresses, even just for everyday. Idiots.

Hmmm . . . He does bear an uncanny resemblance to a 60's super villain, the original Dr. Evil (http://toyhaven.blogspot.com/2007/11/captain-action-and-dr-evil.html):

Because it's Kansas City and the Royals were eliminated from the play-offs... Three weeks ago.

I think he looks pretty cool, actually. His outfit is very trendy for 1968.

the Hawk is the man. He can take down any other sportscaster one on one

By his looks, he was the MAN back then. That look will be back in style in a few years. Hopefully he still have that in his closet somewhere.

I always assumed when Hawk was younger he always dressed like that. When I watched Sox games as a kid on TV when Hawk and Drysdale were the broadcasting duo, Hawk used to sometimes wear the sport coat with the decorative handkerchief in his pocket during telecasts.

I already am

I hope in the future, people laugh at the idea of sleeveless tops worn with ankle length pants.
