I am not sure but Hawk and D.J. did make a reference about his dad being a ten year vet.

Yes, he is John's son.

Damn cool. I saw T-Bone play with the Rochester Red Wings as a kid.

Yes, his dad is the former outfielder. I saw the kid play in Great Falls and I think he's a comer...he's got talent.

John Shelby Jr. is the Sox #10 prospect in the recently released Baseball America Prospect Handbook. Since that included Gio and De Los Santos, I'd assume he's now #8.

He put up some really nice numbers at Kannapolis last season:

.301/.352/.508 with 35 doubles, 9 triples, 16 homers and 19 steals.

This makes me feel real old.

I really hope to see strong '08 years from Shelby, Getz, Sergio Miranda, and Bourgeois. That should shoot them up the top prospect lists, and actually give us some options, whether for the MLB club or for some more trades :D:

I doubt Bourgeois is ever going to appear on a top prospects list, unless you are talking a top 30 prospects list or something. He's like Wassermann in that regard. He has a chance to do a great job filling a role on a Major League team, but that role is usually overlooked.

Getz should make it to the bigs and Miranda is interesting. Shelby could be something special, so I doubt he's with us this time next year.
