It only cost them a minor league deal? This must have been a case of preference for Bartolo, then, because for just a minor league contract you'd think the White Sox would've been interested.

Is it possible the Dominican report had their color of Sox mixed up? I hate it when I do that when doing my laundry.

Ugh. He would have been a nice option behind three question marks.

Assuming the report of his deal at ESPN.com is true, I'm amazed the Sox and he couldn't come to terms.

This is really very, very, VERY little risk for Boston and the upside could be high.

Just very surprised by this, especially considering the initial report that he was coming to Chicago.

I wouldn't be surprised if the report was true but the physical or review of medical records didn't go well.

He would have been a fourth question mark.

BoSox website has the story.

I guess we didn't need a former Cy Young winner w/out guarantees for the league minimum. Even w/ issues, he would have been great insurance for Floyd by July 4th.

Maybe Colon preferred to sign with the defending champions, believing it would be his best shot to win a World Series?

Why does everyone have to blame KW for failing to land a player?

Who's to say he would have signed the same deal with the White Sox? Just because a player signs a contract with Team A doesn't mean he would have signed to Team B for the same terms.

Agreed

But if the Sox didn't offer Colon a similar contact, its shameful.

This post makes too much sense. Bashing figureheads is much easier.

Why? It was never even confirmed that the White Sox offered him a contract.

Considering Boston needs a 5th starter there is no risk here.

If this doesn't work they may look at Contreras ( for Coco? )

So what if the only thing Bartolo Colon refuses to stick a fork into is himself? (http://www.boston.com/sports/nesn/wilbur/sports_blog/blog/2008/02/25/a_minor_large_expectation/)

Yeah sure, Burls, Vazquez, Danks, Floyd, Haeger or Broadway or Egbert and the Sox get Coco Krispies. Save that one for your Blosox message board.
