Not much of a superagent anymore, is he? He can't seem to get anyone the deals he wants, Sheff's mad, IIRC Kenny Rogers and a couple others have dumped him this offseason, and he was the problem with the initial ARod-Yankees negotiations. Does he still even represent ARod?

Joe needs more question marks before he answers this question.

if there is one thing that gary sheffield has proven time and time again, it's that he's not the sharpest tool in the shed.

"It ain't going to be pretty," he said. "No fine is going to be big enough. No suspension is going to be long enough."

Let's hope they settle it soon!

He is still a huge agent. Eventhough A-Rod and Warren Buffet did his deal Boras will still get his ten percent or whatever.

Looks to be 5% as stated in the article:
"Several months later, Sheffield signed with the Yankees and said he negotiated the contract with owner George Steinbrenner. Boras later filed paperwork requesting 5 percent of the $39 million deal."

But FIVE PERCENT ... for every player!? Damn ... !

From this (http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2007/10/29/071029fa_fact_mcgrath?printable=true)article about him, it says he represents 65 players. At a league average of $3 million (also from the article) - which, I know, isn't even close to what HIS clients make - that puts him at $9.75 million yearly (and that's understandbly WAYYY too low). For reference, the (former) A-Rod deal alone gave him $1.35 million last year ... with 64 more BIG salaries to cash in on.

You have to remember though that he runs an organization comprable to any pro franchise. The scouting, the medical crew, the instructors, he keeps a huge staff working for him. Hell, he probably spends more on scouting than the Sox do.

I wouldn't be surprised if Boras becomes less of a factor in the future. Do the cream of the crop players approaching FA need him anymore? I can see the need for guys coming into pro ball needing him because to them, the extra million bucks he can get could go a long way if they never make it to the majors. But young guys like Miguel Cabrera.... what do they need him for? Any decent agent will do the job without all the extra baggage that Boras brings. With the available information out there now that wasn't as accessible even 5 years ago then Boras is not so much of a standout. Then you get the older vets who are passed their prime like Sheffield or Kenny Rogers, at this point in their careers it's probably down to just one or two teams at the most so just get a lawyer to look over the fine print for much less.
