To the other side of town though, per Bruce Levine.

Have fun with him Cubs.

Cintron was abysmal last year...but he's back in the NL now, where he did do well for a couple of years.

I still wonder how much his bad season last year had to do with the arm trouble and surgery he had had during the offseason, because he was a lot better in '06.

Yeah, I still like Cintron and he was great off the bench but after getting surgery he couldn't throw the ball at all and he struggled the whole year. He was a great guy off the bench before the surgery

He had a lot of bad things happen to him, arm trouble, surgery and being in and out of bereavement for his mother's health problems. He should have a better year this year.

MESA, Ariz. The Chicago Cubs and infielder Alex Cintron have agreed to terms on a minor league contract with an invitation to Major League Spring Training. Cintron is expected to report to camp on Tuesday.

Cintron, 29, has a career .277 batting average (525-for-1897) in all or part of seven major league seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks (2001-05) and the Chicago White Sox (2006-07). The versatile infielder has played 338 big league games at shortstop, 109 games at second base and 88 games at third base.

The switch-hitter is a career .305 hitter with a .347 on-base percentage vs. left-handed pitching and a .267 hitter vs. right-handed pitching. Cintron batted .243 with seven doubles, two home runs and 19 RBI in a 2007 season in which he was limited to 68 games following offseason right elbow surgery, three stints on the bereavement list and one stint on the restricted list. In 2006, Cintron batted .285 with 10 doubles, five home runs and 41 RBI in 91 games in his first season with the White Sox.

Thing about Cintron, he killed the Tigers while with the Sox. He won't be facing them this season if he makes the Cubs roster.

Will he even manke the Flubs 25 man roster?

At least I won't have to watch games this year of Cintron striking out for the final out of a Sox L...

I've never understood the Cintron bashing around here. When he's healthy he's a very good bench player. Its too bad he had all the stuff to deal with last season. He's a better player than he showed last year.

This is good news to me because the O's were scouting Cintron and Uribe making Uribe their lone option at the moment.

That's some good news. But it doesn't matter cause all we would get for Uribe in a bucket of balls.

I've never understood the Cintron bashing around here.

Probably the same reasons people think Toby Hall sucks...:dunno:

Instead of looking at what they've done in their careers, it's much easier to just say they suck because they had a bad year. Cintron not only had the health issues, but he also had family issues.

I wouldn't have minded Cintron coming back. I'd say we have enough middle infielders, though.

Jenks would never, never, never let the bases get loaded with Cubs. If he was brought in because someone else loaded the bases, he'd get the guy out.

Cintron is too classy to flip off Ozzie.

Finally, Wrigley is not beautiful.

Another infielder to the Cubs?

I think their plan to win this year is to somehow get every available infielder in their organization so other teams won't have any to play.

What happened to sunshine, gumdrops, blue skies and nothing ever going wrong for the Sox? Man, you sure do give up easy and all it took was for the flubbies to sign last year's Sox 25th man to a minor league deal.

Dude, why will Linebrink ever be in for Jenks? If anyone...it would be Dotel.

This could be a move with the expectations of trading Cedeno in the Roberts deal. And the fact that Fontenot sucks.

The Cintron hate here is way over the top.

Man, I'm so tired of the media, I shouldn't tune in (I do in case of Sox news when I'm somewhere where I hadn't had other access), but man, it's like they're almost doing the negotiating for this Roberts thing, I hope they're not taking Viagra or else they really need to see a doctor for this unsafe extra long 'erection' they've had

Cintron was a hack hitter with one good year. Zero plate patience that often ended up with a ground out somewhere, much like Erstad. He had a big home run against the Tigers and he's tolerable as a twice a week (max) player, but he made $1.8 million last season which is just too much for mediocrity. His defense wasn't even that good.

I agree. I liked him with the D'Backs. I'm bummed that he's with the Cubs. :(:

May turn out to be a solid signing for the Cubs. So far they have made some nice moves to improve their team. Can't really say I hate them , except for their fans and the annoying media propaganda I had to listen to growing up.

I know it's Harry Caray day. And Harry was as entertaining as they come. But they should honor Good old Jack Brickhouse in the same manner. To bad they only have his name on a stinking flagpole. Jack was every bit as good as Harry .

Cintron was a terrible hitter.
He certainly, however, should hold no animus against the Sox, as the Sox gave him far more opportunities than he deserved. Ozzie actually stuck him at DH for a few games and used him as a PH several times.
Even worse, was his defense.

Even worse, was his defense.

His arm was so weak that there were games last year when I wasn't sure he was going to be able to throw the ball from deep short to first.

Chill out, it was satire, joking that he'd beat us.
I know he's a utility guy, might not even make the team.
Nothing ever go wrong, ive never said that, lots of crap, goes wrong with us.
But we snap out of it, its still sunshine and milkshakes.
Im still the most optomistic one here, without a doubt.
Im the only one who repeatidly states my belief we will win it all.
If im wrong im wrong, but if im right im a prophet, join the ministry everyone.
Cintron was all in fun. Too many serious folks here.
