The Trib complied a list of the most important events in Chicago history.

Lights on Wrigley Field is one of them, the 2005 World Series Champions are not.

Also, the front page next to the Bulls 1996 Championship is from the first championship. Nice editing job guys...

I gather from reading the "your comments" part to the page is that the Trib only did the "most important days" up to the last ten years. They failed to mention that on the page if thats what they are up to.

This is too easy, but I won't take the bait. Let the Tribune continue its slow death slide.

Mike's summary speaks for itself.

Yea...but look at the bright side. They had the 1969 Cubs on the list as "they flirted with pennant glory"

I love these:

The 1906 World Series (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-chicagodays-worldseries-story,0,3613084.story)
In this all-Chicago fall classic, the "Hitless Wonders" seem mismatched against the awesome Cubs.

The 1959 White Sox (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-chicagodays-whitesox1959-story,0,853518.story)
The team's pennant win results in a celebration that scares thousands.

DON'T FORGET THE MAGICAL SEASON OF 2003 WHERE THE CUBS CAME OUT OF THE BLUE TO ALMOST MAKE IT TO THE WORLD SERIES!

The OP is misleading... they stopped 10 years ago and want reader input on the events from the last 10 years. I'm sure the 2005 white sox will make the list.

Richard Nixon resigns (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-chicagodays-nixonresigns-story,0,6425412.story)

After the release of transcripts of the Watergate tapes, support for the president drops away.

:dunno:
What does this have to do with Chicago?

Only in Chicago would a team that blew a big lead in August to finish 8 games out of first (out of the postseason) be fondly remembered. The same holds true at WSI for the 1977 White Sox, although their lead wasn't as big and disappeared at the beginning of August. I wonder of last season's Mets team will be so fondly remembered.

It is nice to see, though, that the user comments at the Tribune link are dominated by people complaining about the omission of the 2005 White Sox.

After my rant post, I looked at the page again and it says they wanted input for the last 10 years. Why they wouldn't make a point to say something like that in the article is beyond me. But it is the Trib...

And last year's Cubbies getting swept by the team that was swept by the team that was swept by the team that was swept by the 2005 Sox.

The above quote was posted by someone on WSI. I Don't recall who, but I have used this line a lot and will continue to do so, so all props to you!

Cbot needs to link their status to "junk" stocks for the last 10 years. I bet that'll make the list.

I'm a simple man, so will someone please break it down for me as though I am a child: Is the Trib including the last 10 years in Chicago history, or do they want to stop at 1996?

Thank you, come again!

What's so special about '96 that they have to stop there?

Well, you see, 2005 never happened and 2008 is just a few weeks old. So, 1997-2007 does indeed add up to 10 years for the Cubune. :redneck

Well to add to that , in the Feb 14 the issue of the times, there is no mention of the White Sox. Didn't they report to spring training as well? It's stuff like this, that makes me hate this team. The propaganda machine act like the Cubs are the only baseball team in town. I think K.W trying to get the Sox back on the winning track is just as important if not more than not winning it for the last 100 years. If the blatant disregard for Sox news continues I'm done with them as well.
