Pardon me, but who is this guy? Some washed up minor leaguer who never made it big?

This guy was drafted by the Mets in 1977. 31 years ago! If he was 18 when drafted, he would be 49 years old. He's so old, there is no record of him at Baseball-reference.com. There is no indication in the link that he is considering trying to get on with a baseball team, so I'm not sure where this thread is coming from.

We would the Sox be just as well off if McClain returned?

Lame. I wonder if he was trying to bait people with the title into thinking it was something about the election. Anyways, lame.

One of the more useless threads in a long time. And that's saying something.

Congrats!

I'd have taken my chances with him in '07

(This thread deserves to be Roadhoused. Let's help it along.)

Yes, it's true! I saw this guy play in a winter league, and here's a scouting report:

Has hit well against minor-league competition; will have trouble at higher levels. Too old for a starting position. Temperamental, erratic fielder; sometimes goes to his left when he should go to his right. Upsets those who preach fundamentals, and past teammates have questioned his loyalty. Expect the Sox to go with a younger, more dynamic prospect.
