The Yankees are paying for it.

In that case, the more the merrier.

This is one round park that I think will be excellent when it's completed. It's a really solid tribute to the old one and it's big. From the renderings it just kind of looks like it's worthy of the name.

It does look nice, but I don't like the parks that have the facade on the outside and then a park structure on the inside. I like it better when they're all integrated, but I guess that's a relatively minor complaint.

With 5,000 less seats the days of $5 tickets in the Bronx are ovah.

This promises to be one very expensive place to see a game.

Says the fan of the team with the highest average price per seat in baseball.

They lost 5,000 seats but they gained a hell of a lot more in skyboxes so there will be a big gain in admission revenue. Not to mention this place will most likely be sold out every day, drawing more overall than the last one despite a smaller capacity. There's also a big restaurant looking thing in center field and I'm sure a few other cash cows within the place. Prices will definitely go up but because they fronted this whole project. And on that note, kudos to them for paying for it and for keeping the name and not selling out. It would just sound icky for the Yankees to play in CitiBank Field or some other bullcrap.

Agreed. And this is from someone who refers to the White Sox
home field as either Comiskey Park or Sox Park.

The Yankees said they turned down $50 million a year to name the stadium :o:

Trost said the team has rejected offers of at least $50 million a year — two and a half times what Citigroup is paying the Mets — to name the stadium for a corporation. He did not say which companies would pay such a fee.

But I loved this line

Yogi Berra said during a video produced by the Yankees to market premium seating at the ballpark, “It’s going to be like a new stadium.”

They also said they are taking the concessions in house after talking to the Wirtz family who did the same with the United Center.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did sell the rights and called it "Yankee Stadium at McDonalds Park" or something along that.

$50m a year is big money to miss out on.

What's the gag?

With the rumored sale of the naming rights for the Urinal, the parent Corp of Juicy Fruit will need a Corp Logo on some ball park. ?

When I have to explain, I need to do better.

Spend all you want George (and family), spend all you want. How long after they open until they discuss adding more seats? Half a season? After the first season? Immediately after their first few sell-outs?
