I have a friend living in Cali who told me that he heard on an Oakland radio station that the Sox are sending Brian Anderson and Kyle McCulloch for Wade LeBlanc.

I have heard/read on ESPN a couple of times that the Padres were looking for a young out fielder who could be Matt Murton of the Cubs, Xavier Nady of the Pirates or Brian Anderson of the White Sox.

Kyle McCulloch: http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/M/Kyle-McCulloch.shtml

This is all just a rumor I just thought it was worth posting.

your link to the guy we would get isn't working but seems pretty early for the sox to give up on Mcculloch after a year and a half of pro ball.

he looks to have some potential but we need some positon prospects...we have way to many pitching with very little position.

Where is this surplus of pitching talent? :?:

They don't have much of anything right now. As of now, the team looks to be in good shape position-wise in the immediate future...what they need is pitching.

I'm fine with whatever we get for Brian.

Did your friend say if this was reported as news or was just "talk"???

At the begining of your post the way you say it makes seems like it is a done deal, then at the end you proceed to call it just a rumor. Also, you took the time to look up information on all whom are involved before you ran to the board to post the deal.

I can't imagine there would be a ton of speculation on an Oakland radio station about what is essentially a minor league deal (no matter how much WE are interested in Anderson he is still small potatoes).

I'm not so sure any of this went down.

Or maybe it is just my blind ignorance not wanting the Sox to trade away our only true centerfielder that is anywhere close to the big league club.

All he told me was there was talks and they were stalled or something. He said they were going through a run about all the teams in Cali and they had a writer at the station to talk about each team. I am not sure what lukin is trying to imply.

Now talks are stalled????

Geesh.

For all of the bashing that takes place on this forum how are you getting a pass for this one?

Nothing personal, I just smelled bull a mile away. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, I'll apologize then.

This is what your post should have been, I have fixed it for you:

Title: BA a good fit in SD???

I have heard/read on ESPN a couple of times that the Padres were looking for a young out fielder who could be Matt Murton of the Cubs, Xavier Nady of the Pirates or Brian Anderson of the White Sox.

Do you think BA is a good fitin SD, and if so, who could we get in return???

Maybe Wade LeBlanc?

You don't have to try and validate your speculation with bull sources from a friend of a friend who was listening to a radio show in Oakland.

LeBlanc has a fringe average FB (85-90mph) and an average CB, but his change rates an 80 on an 80 scale. He throws all 3 for strikes. He's just about major league ready. Projects as a mid-rotation SP.

The one thing I'd like is that the San Diego farm systems preach great control and pounding the strike zone to their pitchers.

I never thought much of McCulloch, so him leaving wouldn't bother me. I agree that I'd rather land near ready SS/C/CF'er, but if this guy shows promise as a back end of the rotation guy, or even a solid reliever, it wouldn't be too bad of a move.

Then only time will tell if BA can hit on a major league level, or if he just needed more than 400 ab's to find his MLB stroke.

He sounds like Broadway.

It's unusual for Williams to trade for a slow thrower.

You know who he really sounds like? McCulloch. Why trade him and Anderson for his clone?

McCulloch is number ten in the worst system in the MLB LeBlanc is number four in a middle of the road system.

Perhaps you don't realize how good an 80 change up is. Nothing McCulloch has is anywhere near an 80 rating.

I like Anderson. Ozzie does not like Anderson so there is no chance he is playing.
So, this really isn't too bad a deal for (better than I would have expected) based on the ratings of the prospects and the fact that the world knows we're trying to trade Anderson.

I will add that I've seen LeBlanc pitch in college and I'm shocked he's anyone's number 4 prospect. But, I'll go with the rankings.
