Shoot! I really like Granderson, he's a class act and a hell of a ball player.

Wonderful. Just the news I wanted to hear.

Just to think that the Sox or the Cubs could of drafted him and didn't. But hey, you never know how prospects will turn out...I am excited for him since he has turned into one of my favorite players, even though being on the Tigers.

....but he's not as good as Brian Anderson! Just ask WSI's official manager.

"There are 29 other teams out there that would love Brian Anderson to be their starting center fielder and taking them to the next level.

Here's to him getting a big head, not working as hard in the offseason, and having a major dropoff in the next few years offensively and defensively.......especially when he plays the White Sox.

Likely? No.
Possible? Yes.

This only further positions them to compete with the White Sox for the ALC title over the next few years!

From the conference call today Granderson said he celebrated by going to McDonalds and getting an extra value meal plus another double cheeseburger off the dollar menu. This guy views anything over six figures as gravy. 2 million, 5 million, 30, 60... whatever. He's not going to spend it all.

I love the guy. He's already an all time favorite for me. Gehringer, Trammell, Whitaker, Granderson.

Here's my concern:

Cleveland has locked up Grady Sizemore to play CF for a few years.
Detroit has locked up Curtis Granderson to play CF for a few years.
Kenny Williams likes Brian Anderson. and Jerry Owens. or Nick Swisher.

Anyone else have some concern generated by this statement when the two teams we appear to be competing against for the ALC top spot for 2008 and beyond have young studs locked up and we have... yeah. Any consolation?

Granderson stayed in a Chicago condominium this off-season while continuing to look for a place of his own. His lease expired at the end of January, and he returned to his parents' home in Lynwood, Ill., for the short time that remains before spring training

There's more "cute" stuff in the article.

The Sox are screwed...what on earth are we as Sox fans going to do?

Oh, and Curtis Granderson is awesome.

It may only take five years for Granderson to threaten Thome on the all-time strikeout list.

How long for Fields?

How long for Fields?

Fields gets fewer at bats because he doesn't lead off every game and will probably play in the minors in 2008.

He still strikes out at a higher rate though.

Unless it's for rehab, Josh Fields won't play a game in the minor leagues this year.

If your point is that Granderson would make a better leadoff hitter than Fields, I will concede it. In fact, I don't think much of Fields offensively or defensively at this stage of his career. If Fields does play with the White Sox in 2008, it will only be because something has happened with Crede.

My point relates more to the following proposition. If the White Sox had a leadoff man who struck out 140 times or more during a season, he would inspire more venom-filled posts at WSI than Uribe ever could.

yeah, Sox fans would hate a GG caliber CF w/ a .900+ OPS and 96% SB rate.

Eh...most people here go out of their way to find something to complain about.

Nothing new...
