I was just wondering, since usually once in a season a starter goes down for at least a couple of starts, who is the next guy in line if we don't get another starter?

This is a really good question. My guess would be either Massett, Broadway, or Egbert, but I do not know for sure. Massett has some big league experience and the other two do not and are a little bit younger. This is yet another reason that we need to get at least one more starter for our rotation.

Broadway would probably get the first shot with Egbert as a possibility...

With Masset out of options, I doubt we see him with the Sox when camp breaks. I don't think he earns a spot in the pen out of ST. Broadways is first in line. Then Haeger or Egbert depending on how each is performing in AAA.

Probably Haeger.

We trade for Gio.

I'd imagine it's Haeger...but um, if that happens, we're in a lot of trouble.

I guess it all depends who the 5 starters out of spring training are? Three, maybe four are a given.

Broadway... and once he gets a spot he is going to hold on to it for years.

Aaron Rowand.

If we play SF, think Rowand starts the game for us, but still mans center for them? :D:

I can pitch. I have a hanging fastball and a 55 mph curve.

Why not? Aaron Rowand is capable and able to step up to any challenge put before him. The United Nations has asked him to take some time before Spring Training starts to negotiate a permanent end to all armed conflicts around the world. That should take him about a day or two. Researchers call him all the time for new and safe cures for all kinds of cancers. He scribbles some molecular formulae and protocols on a napkin and little Johnny goes home from the hospital with a smile on his face. The NY Giants asked for some plays which will make Tom Brady look like Bobby Brady in the Super Bowl. He diagrammed some formations and stunts while standing on his head during the Yoga class he teaches to patients who were quadriplegics just the previous week before he performed spinal surgery which got them back to perfect health.

Don't underestimate the power of The Rowand. Mere contracts with the SF Giants do not get in his way.
