It still amazes me how Los Angeles came along so quickly to stand up to Chicago in terms of American cities. Or whatever this "alpha city" bull**** refers to.

It's a completely arbitrary ranking of cities based upon their economic, social, and cultural impact. LA belongs up there, like it or not.
