Who saw Jerry's interview? I thought he was very insightful. He was even told by advice that he's not getting a good jump when attempting to steal bases.

I'm pretty sure Hawk mentioned that almost every time Jerry attempted a steal but made it safely because of his "makeup speed".

I have hopes for Jerry Owens. He has some upside. He can be a strong factor for the White Sox, even as a fourth OF, or as a part-time starter in CF. I think he'll be a better hitter, since he showed tremendous progress last season. He has great speed. He has a great attitude. Spring Training promises to be very interesting.

He did a great job on the show, fwiw. I see no drop off going from Pods to him, even discounting the health issues. And if Owens can get the hang of bunting, he could become a fine lead-off man. That would be ironic, after all the pissing and moaning this off-season.

I know, still lots of "ifs" . . .

Owens needs to hit well enough in spring training to show he can be the leadoff man. I'm rooting for him, but if he's not good enough to bat leadoff then he's rather useless to the team.

Without a true CF, the Sox can't afford to carry Owens as a 4th outfielder who's only value would be pinch running.

I would rather see if Quentin can live up to some of his minor league numbers starting in LF and have a defensive specialist as the 4th OF.

Everyone says that Swisher will have an easier time playing CF in Chicago, but what about in Detroit and other away games?

Jerry was very well spoken. Maybe he can replace Singleton in the booth one day.
I am pulling for Jerry to succeed and shut the doubters up.

What is the Sox single season record for stolen bases anyway?

I also read I believe in the Tribune maybe? That it will be tough on Owens leading off for the Sox because there are so many marquee left handers in the Central in which I have to agree. The way I see it is that Owens will get his chance to lead off this year atleast to start. Ozuna will have some opportunities to start against the lefties play LF, and lead off moving Swisher to CF those games. With Owens in the lineup it does not really give Quentin a lot of playing time unless you are giving Thome/Konerko some time off and moving Swisher to first, or even giving Swisher a day off himself. This is KIND of why I would have liked to see Konerko moved for a Willits/Kendrick and prospect or just Willits/Kendrick because that really solidifies things (the trade won't happen.) Anyways I like the idea of Jerry leading off more and more but the problem is because I am not sure if it is because I am comfortable with him or I would rather not see Orlando used as lead off. Plus another thing is I really am curious as to what Carlos Quentin can do with a full season considering he is healthy (I think he is a stud (minor league numbers) not given enough time to gel at the majors) Anyways I love the Sox...Good luck Jerry

I believe Rudy law holds the White Sox single Season stolen base record with 77.

That makes no sense. I would think that without a true CF, they would be forced to keep him. Ya know...since he is a true CFer
