Notes: Cornejo was recalled before the game from Class AAA Toledo, and third baseman Dean Palmer (right shoulder) was placed on the 15-day disabled list. ... In the first, Cornejo threw a wild pitch and Thomas tried to score from third, but catcher Mitch Meluskey was able to get back, block the plate and tag him out. ... Tigers first baseman Dmitri Young missed his second straight game with a sore left hip flexor. ... Attendance was 15,737 on "Dog Day," a promotion in which 500 dog owners and their pooches watched the game from the left field bleachers. Crosstown at Wrigley, 36,476 fans showed up at the Cubs game without their dogs

They are right. This is pathetic support. A team this good shouldn't be drawing 15,000 on a Saturday. We have been talking about this forever. Clearly it is not a matter of putting a bad product on the field.

Sure the Sox missed a huge opportunity when the built Comiskey. Every stadium built since has 10 times the drawing power. However, we were still outdrawn on Friday night by the Twins (who play in a pit) and the Royals (who suck).

At least we outdrew Montreal (14,000 v 8,000). Has anyone ever thought that the White Sox could become the contraction victim if the league has a year to think about it and Minnesota ties up their contraction in the courts. Would there be any significant voice of outrage if the Sox went away? Is this Reinsdorf's way to cash out?

Attendance is a big story in this city. Especially when you throw in the fact that the Cubs & Sox, were both home today. Which hardly ever happens.

I don't know why people make such a big deal of this. It's been this way for about 7 years now, and it's not going to change for awhile.
