The Cardinals and Blue Jays will swap Scott Rolen and Troy Glaus if the third basemen will waive their no-trade clauses, FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports.

Glaus, who is believed to prefer the West Coast, may want some financial incentive for waiving his no-trade clause. Rolen figures to be less picky, as he just wants away from Tony La Russa. The two players would also have to pass physicals for the deal to be completed. Rolen has the more significant health concerns because of his chronic shoulder troubles, but Glaus is coming off foot surgery. Jan. 12 - 1:01 pm et

This works out great for the Sox because no team that's in need of a 3rd baseman got Rolen.

Wow, odd.

yes and its also good news for us. because neither the jays or cards were actually looking to trade for a third baseman. all the teams that still have that need (Dodgers, Angels to a lesser degree, Giants, etc.) are still searching the market. Which means more suitors for Crede come spring training....hopefully.

He is saying how Rolen and Glaus were on the market, now they are not. That means the teams looking for 3Bs have fewer options, making more teams interested in Crede.

Not a bad deal for St. Louis, Rolen is getting up there in age, Glaus should hit well in St. Louis

And what was the last healthy season that he had, 2004?

Might up the market for Crede unless the Jays are planning on moving Rolen in a package deal.

I guess Glaus has seen his share of injuries, too. Hasn't he.

My bad.

No worries, I meant it as a joke.

Did you miss the part where Rolen is 1 year older than Glaus? Maybe I'm not seeing this move the right way, but I don't understand it.

St Louis had to unload Rolen because of the issues with Larussa, and Glaus has been linked to roids. Both need a new start.

The trade actually makes a lot of sense. There's not a huge difference in salary, and only 1 year difference in contract length. Both players needed a fresh start.

Plus Crede's stock may have gone up, if he can prove his back's in good shape.
