View Full Version : Giles, Rockies agree to deal

If I were the Rockies I would have checked in on the availability of a Mark Ellis, but if Giles bounces back this could be an ok signing.

The Rocky Mountain News reports that the Rockies have agreed to terms with Marcus Giles, formerly of the Padres, on a one-year contract.
The deal is said to be non-guaranteed and pending a physical, which shows how far Giles' stock has fallen after a horrible season in San Diego. Giles will compete with Jayson Nix and several other young players for the starting job at second base. Choosing Coors Field as the place to kick start his career is a smart move, but Giles is far from a good fantasy bet.
