I was told that the A's are trying to get rid of this guy.

guess you'd have to give up Cabrera, because those are basically Garland's numbers minus a few seasons.

I like the kid's makeup. If it took Danks, Floyd, plus other young guys, I'd do in in a heartbeat. In turn, he will be tough to come by.

That's a good comparison.
There's always way too much "irrational exuberance" about Beane's pitchers. He hypes them well.

They want a Haren like return.

If i'm giving up Danks, Floyd and others I better be getting Johan, Kazmir, Cain, Billingsley or someone like that not Blanton.

Terry Boers mentioned this pitcher as a possibility for the White Sox to consider in a trade. He did this on his show with Dan Bernstein over two weeks ago. I'm not sure if the Sox have enough chips to pry him away from the A's.

The A's want to go younger...who is left on the Sox that we can trade that will help a team in rebuilding mode??? Juan Uribe??

Billy Beane does "love our system" Danks, Oneli Perez, Shelby and Ba. That wouldn't work but who is in our system.

Has anyone else noticed how we always trade with, Arizona, Baltimore, Oakland, and Anaheim.

the irony.....
In Moneyball, Beane rips on KW for passing on Blanton for Royce Ring.

Royce Ring, now that was a quality pick.

Yeah, we never got anything from Philly.

I'm trying to remember the last trade we had with Baltimore. Was it Singleton for Willie Harris in 2002?

I think so. And we made our July 2000 trade with them to get Charles Johnson.

We've traded a good bit with the Pirates.
I don't remember much from Anaheim prior to Garland (maybe Gary Glover was sent there?)
We traded with KC, unfortunately.
If we wanted a Garland style pitcher, we should have extended Garland and saved the players. It's too bad we couldn't get much of this done in the FA market.

You have to be kidding! The Sox would trade Danks and Floyd in a minute foe Blanton. If not they better get their heads examined. Look at the numbers; there not even close.

Why dont we take a flyer on Jason Jennings, he might come cheap and be another Loiza.

Blanton? Meh, and a big one too. Although he would be better than anything rumored right now. Too bad KW wants to give Floyd another shot, I don't know why.

I disagree; you still haven't addressed the fact that Blanton isn't so good away from home. It's just too pricey to give up two starters when one might turn out to be just as good if not better.

The records mean little. Most here would agree that Danks would easily have won 10 games last year with any decent run support in the first half. Interestingly, Blanton had the same record at home and away. You also have to throw in the fact that Blanton compiled his record for teams that won 88, 93, and 76 games. Danks pitched for a team that won 72.

okaaay, maybe we can give the Uribe for Blanton. You gotta love the meatballs on this site. Santana, Kazmir, Cain or Billingsley. Much like Devin Hester, you sir... are ridiculous
