I was (and still am) a huge space cadet. I wanted to be an astronaut growing up; and I remember a message that Apollo 8 broadcast from space

Much like the shepherds and wise men during the first Christmas, people around the world had their attention turned toward the heavens on Dec. 24, 1968, when the Apollo 8 crew delivered its famous Christmas Eve broadcast from lunar orbit. Commander Frank Borman, Command Module Pilot Jim Lovell and Lunar Module Pilot William Anders became the first humans to orbit the Moon on Christmas Eve 1968. They were also the first astronauts to spend Christmas in space. This was their broadcast back to Earth:

William Anders:
"For all the people on Earth the crew of Apollo 8 has a message we would like to send you".
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness."
Jim Lovell:
"And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day."
Frank Borman:
"And God said, Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good."
Borman then added, "And from the crew of Apollo 8, we close with good night, good luck, a Merry Christmas, and God bless all of you - all of you on the good Earth."

Let me echo Frank Borman's message. Good night, good luck, a Merry Christmas; and may God bless all of you, my fellow Sox fans. all of you on the good Earth.

Kenny spoke not a word but went straight to his work,
Made all his phone calls, then turned with a jerk.
After pitching a trade that no one should oppose,
Then giving a nod, out the press room he goes.

And I heard him exclaim ere he drove out of sight,
"Merry Christmas to all, and next year is all right."

Merry Christmas, friends!

And as a final Christmas Eve note; all I ever ask on Christmas is this of our Lord.

http://www.vtonly.com/xmas_round_church.jpg
Let the world know peace. If even for a day, let us know peace.

Bring every man and woman serving this great country home safely.

Not just our brave men and women fighting overseas, but all civil servants.

Police, Fire, emergency responders. Give them all a quiet day, and if they have to act, that they all get back to station safely; and a timely return to their families.

Lord, I ask this if you can do it just this day; and we as a people will work on it every day.

If you get a chance, everyone. If you see a cop or a firefighter tomorrow in your travels to family and friends; if you can give them a bit of gratitude. I always say thanks to the cops and the firemen when I see them; but especially on Christmas and other holidays.

Peace to you all, and Merry Christmas.

It's officially Christmas in Denver! I'm going to put Baby Jesus in his manger and go to bed.

I hope that those of you that are spending today with your loved ones enjoy it, including the moments that make you want to rip your hair out. And for those of you that are spending the holiday alone (like me), remember to savor the ability to spend your Christmas any way you want! :D:

A safe and joyous Christmas to all!

I got a book on the Sox from my sister, but my son made the "motherload" of White Sox Christmas joy.

My Mom got him one of those "Front Porch Classics" pinball game, with the White Sox logo:

Talking old school, forget the batteries gaming. Heck, something I'll even play with him. Awesome toy.
