Hello out there,

As the title says, first time posting here. Sox fan since '85, who has recently been displaced from the Chicagoland area to the Front range of the Rockies here in Colorado. Just wanted to drop a quick intro for myself and give a "shout out" to all my fellow die hards out there!

Welcome, make sure you read the rules of conduct or whatever they're called. Make sure you read the part about not ripping on Fenway for all his Red Sox and Boston and pointless dribble he incessantly posts.

Wow! Thanks for the warm welcome everybody . This 2007-2008 offseason has definitley been an unusual one for myself, as well as for others from what I can see on the forum here.

I cant remember one like this. Here we are, just 2 full seasons removed from having won the big One. I honestly believed that we were on our way to building a competitive franchise after 2006 even. They fell fell short by winning only 90 games! Then last year happened, and I dont think anyone of us ever thought it was gonna happen. Sure, we could see that this team was loaded with veterans and the proverbial "grinders". Honestly, I was positive we would be in for the wild card. Did not see us coming out with a crushing 72 wins!

So here we find ourselves in the midst of an overpriced free agent panic. We have huge question marks throughout the lineup. And that is what makes this so fun and frustrating at the same time. This team, in my eyes, really is a coin flip. They have not shaped out the way I would have envisioned, but this is still a good team with highly proven veterans, and talented young potential as well.

Fields has shown to be the biggest bright spot from last year, and the much hated Owens could be the biggest surprise for this coming year (remember the coin flip analogy). We also have some young pitching that could be real surprises this year. I am not sold on Floyd, but he does have some nasty stuff that 29 other teams want. The good news is, not many expect us to do well this year, which gives us the silent assassin factor. The bad news is .... well that has been documented on this site pretty well from what I can see.

So here we are at a crosssroads, and I am going to ride this train all the way to the end!
