I brought this up in a different thread but I think it got lost in .....

What about Gathright as a CF option? He could be had for less then Dejesus and to me has a lot of upside. When he got more at bats last year he hit .307, got his OBP up to .371 and hit .282 v. lefties. I know he can really burn. I wonder if he can learn how to steal?

Seems like a decent low risk, high reward chance?

Thoughts please?

We already have Joey Gathright, and his name is Jerry Owens. Pass.

I think it's a bad move to be the first to comment on your own thread

If no one comments, that's your response. Bumping threads that don't get any response isn't allowed...

I'm not sure it's a good idea to paraphrase Pee Wee Herman's "I Know You Are But What Am I"

Joey Gaithright is a terrible idea. He's Corey Patterson w/ less of an idea of the strike zone. He was 9th on the OF depth chart in Tampa. He isn't good enough to play full time for the Royals.

Let's move back to discussing legit CF candidates... are there any?

His stats sure looked decent last year when he got playing time, and I tought he would come cheap; maybe catch lighting in a bottle. Thanks for you opinion. I was just curious.

Maximum ABs in a season: 229
Career OBP: .333

Joey Gaithright is Deion Sanders WITHOUT football.

I know his career obp was poor, I noticed last year though with 228 ABs he hit .307, got his OBP up to .371 and hit .282 v. lefties.

If he came cheap I thought it would be worth a shot
