What other players do you think Carlos Q will be similar to?

I remember some other right handed young stud power hitting young left/right fielders. I had big hopes for high offense production, good speed and above average fielding skills from these guys:

Cory Snyder
Rick Riechardt
Kenny Williams
Ivan Calderon
Sammy Sosa
Jeff Abbot
Magglio Ordonez

Tim Salmon is the one he reminds most of.

I think he will put up numbers comparable to Jose Guillen

For the most part none of those have the on-base skills Quentin has shown in the minor leagues. Jose Guillen is not a good comparison either.

I'm actually struggling to come up with a real good comparison....maybe a non-crazy Milton Bradley. A solid .280/.360/.480 type line certainly would be a realistic top-end performance from Quentin sometime in the future if things pan out. Little bit of speed, good defense....I'll say Milton Bradley.

Right handed version of Markakis, in '06?
16/62 and .290/350. Maybe a little more on the power numbers and a little less on the avg, but I think that'd be a good full first season for Quentin. Then hopefully he can follow it up with an '07 like Markakis :)

I think Quentin becomes very similar to Pat Burell maybe a tick less pop and better average. Basicly your prototypical LF, with a great arm.

Quentin is a plus defensive outfielder -- he won't be in left for long. I look for him to be similar to Harold early in his career. .270 - .290 with 20-25 and 80 RBI.

I'd be thrilled if he could put up numbers like Ivan Calderon's...but I don't think he'll do that. We'll see.

I think he has a chance to become a nice hitter. i hope the Sox are patient with him (and Richar and ...) and they should be considering that it's unlikely they'll contend this year.

If we could get .265AVG 20HR 80RBI out of Quentin for '08, I'd be very happy. It would be way more production out of LF than we have gotten in a while.

Guillen has put up similar numbers to those that you just posted, so how is Guillen not a good comparison? .290/.353/.460 vs. .280/.360/.480

Jose Guillen's career line is .274/.325/.447. He has nowhere near the on-base skills Quentin has shown in the minors.

This is a very stupid thing to post, but I am a rather stupid person so I will post it anyway...in MLB the Show they happened to show the guys in the running for NL MVP for 2008 (the game was made before the trade obviously) and they had Quentin in second place with .308 AVG, 32 SB, 41 HR, 92 RBIs. I saw that and thought of this thread....so that's what MLB the Show predicts for Quentin...I'd be content with a .260 + AVG.

Where will the Q man play when Kenny gets Coco, Pierre and Figgins?

LOL

Q's minor league OBP and projected OBP sound good. Good D and solid arm. Can he be compared to the other AZ guy, Byrnes?

I would measure him mostly by height.
