I am not too sure if this belongs in this thread and this is not a rumor but, what would be the thoughts of picking up Jason Tyner who the Twins just DFA'ed? He was hitting .286 in 118 games last season and played all three OF positions (mostly LF but had a good 93 games in CF in his career with 1.000 fielding %). He has an OBP of .331 and very little K's (only 26 last season). Only made $400K last season... is he worth a shot?

I also thought this would be intriguing... Another name that was DFA'd... Akinori Otsuka... I wouldn't even have to think twice about signing him to a contract

Isn't he one of the piranhas?

Ozzie would be thrilled, he loves those guys.

Man, put Tyner in a hitter's paradise like the Cell, and he should be good for at least 2 homers per 5 years!

Jason Tyner sucks. He's a glorified AA player because he's on the Twins.

My guess is that Jason Tyner, unless a couple of planes go down, will not be on a major league roster next year. The same will happen to Mario Mendoza....umm..errr...Nick Punto when the twinkies finally release him.

I like Otuska if his arm is sound.

Agreed - if he's okay health wise he'd be a welcome addition. Let's go get him!

The Sox already have two abysmal CFs; they do not need three.

Otsuka is questionable for the start of the season, but I would not mind seeing him signed for 1/3.

T.R. Sullivan is reporting on mlb.com that we were set to send Chris Carter to the Rangers for Otsuka but backed out once we had a chance to examine his medical records.
