No option for Josh Hamilton?

Out of those options I think the one that best serves our needs is in fact Rowand and I'm hoping we get him...but I will not be shocked to see Jerry Owens out there either.

I'm dusting off my glove. Though I do plan to hold out for 5 years, so I doubt the Sox would sign me.

Kenny might lack the motivation to bid with thirty other teams for your services.

I refuse to play for Boston, so they are out of the running.

More likely to see the guy in 303 row 21...

the 100 seats are too pricey; Kenny would never pay that much for "talent"

Damn, this is so depressing. I've tried to stay as optimistic as possible throughout this process and not be a pants-pisser, but the pickings are getting slim at this point and I'm becoming resigned to the idea that CF will be the weak spot on the offense. :(:

The answer for who I want from those choices should pretty much be a given if we want to win games, but who we actually end up starting is a completely different story. Our complete inability to spend would point to Jerry Owens as our Opening Day CF. By all means, though, please prove me wrong.

You don't want to overpay for a guy in the three hundred section though.

Owens and Patterson are abysmal. Edmonds is high risk, little reward.

Crisp has not had a good year since 2005. And he failed in a lineup in which he consistently got good pitches to hit, as pitchers could not afford to pitch around him. There is little reason to expect him to succeed here.

Rowand is the easy choice among these options. Although Hamilton is better.

CIN will want a decent pitcher for him.

Maybe we can offer Aardsma and MacDougal for him!!

I agree. Out of those options, I would like to see Aaron Rowand, but I think we will be seeing Owens. That being said, I'd rather see Owens than Crisp or Cameron.

Yes agreed. Its a loaded question, who do you WANT to see in CF or who do you THINK will be in CF. I answered Rowand to the former and Owens to the latter.

I completely agree. Out of the options available, I want to see Rowand. If I wouldn't be surprised at all if Owens is our opening day CF.

I know getting Rowand will make some people's heads explode in anger here, but I think he's our best option and he's better than doing nothing. Crisp? The problem I have with Crisp is that Boston isn't just going to give him away, they are going to extract some good talent from whichever team gets him. Cameron, Patterson, Edmonds? No thanks.

I think its fairly evident now that Kenny doesn't want to play the CF market this offseason. Jerry Owens is the Sox' 08' CFer. I'm praying for Brian Anderson to learn how to hit at this point.

I vote for Willits

Who are we gonna give Anaheim for Willits? Vazquez?

The only team that appears desperate enough to make a deal w/ Kenny right now is Baltimore, that's why I think Patterson might happen. The only drawback to that happening is the ex-Cub factor. The media, which is already having a field day ignoring KW, would disgrace him beyond repair for this one.

I still wonder why we don't start talking to St Louis... and I know Edmonds is old and crusty and nobody likes how he times his dives to get on Sportscenter... but the reality in StL right now is that they A) have Cesar Izturis at short and B) have a third baseman in Rolen that wants out. Crede and Uribe would fix the left side of their infield, and we could do it for a fair price: either Edmonds OR, and I would prefer this in left field, Chris Duncan. We could get a third team in the mix to take Rolen off their hands, maybe a Tampa or KC, and free up some roster space for... the free agents that want to be in Chicago? Are there any?

Thoughts?

Owens, because that's the failure fallback.

Owens because if we're going to get anywhere over the next three years, we're going to have to develop some young players.

Rowand is not a big enough upgrade to deliver a championship alone nor is he worth committing 4 years to.

At this point, I don't know who I would want, or who would actually play for the White Sox in CF.

Rowand
Rios
Hamilton
Stewart - always hurt....perfect!

would all be fine with me.

I would say ken Griffey J., but where would he play?

PorkChopExpress
12-12-2007, 02:54 PM
A deal for Rios would be awesome.

A trade for Patterson would be awesome...if it included Roberts and/or Bedard.

Whatever happened to the Cuban kid Alexi Ramirez? Doesn't he play CF?

Otherwise, I'm fine with Owens/Anderson. Don't go out and get someone just to do it. I think there is a reason KW mentioned these guys as viable options a month or so ago.

It's going to be Owens unless they can pry a good CF from somewhere else (and I don't mean Crisp)

WhiteSox5187
12-12-2007, 04:37 PM
It'll be Owens. I wouldn't mind giving Hamilton a shot, but that's not going to happen. Kenny is probably going to stand pat until ST when Crede shows he can play and maybe then he will deal him.

Should be Rowand, of course. The way things are going however, he'll probably sign somewhere else because they give him an extra year.

I wouldn't mind a deal for Willits.

I am fine with Owens/Anderson over the other options in you list. Especially if some other deal is done, i.e., Brian Roberts, Chone Figgins, etc.

It'll probably be Owens then. I'm not too unhappy, though his fielding will be a piece of work.

Maybe KW is doing a stealth rebuild, but it's not so stealthy. I somehow don't think he is forced into whiffing on every situation as opposed to just implementing a new plan while trying not to hurt ticket sales as much by going public with a rebuilding effort.

If the Sox were offering 5 years (right?) and that was the rumored sticking point, then it's interesting that the Giants ended up getting him for five years.

That's nice... now we won't man up and offer enough years... at what point are we going to stop believing the ridiculous excuses from the KW Regime for why another one got away?

Kenny is starting to sound a lot like that Pittsburgh Steelers' safety that said they'd beat New England last weekend... let's stop guaranteeing we're going to play championship ball unless you've got the hay in the barn Chief!

Fenway,
How much do you think Crisp will cost the White Sox?....in terms of players we would likely have to give up, that is.

Disregarding trade cost, I would say that Crisp would be my top choice for CF now. But, I don't want to give up Gio Gonzalez to get him. Maybe it's Juan Pierre - but how much will we have to trade to get him??? Plus if we're going to stick his weak arm in CF, maybe we may as well just go with Jerry Owens.
