The wife and I recently visited Mount Rushmore (along with the Crazy Horse Monument..which was incredible). During the visit she asked me..who would I have on a White Sox "Mount Rushmore"? (questions like that are why I married her)
Here's would be my picks for the four faces on a White Sox "Mount Rushmore":
Frank Thomas (best hitter)
Luis Aparicio (speed and defense/go go Sox)
Nellie Fox (speed and defense/go go Sox)
Ted Lyons (history of great pitching/all time wins leader)Who would you pick?

I didn't get one of his cards, but I did see him passing out his business card letting people know he does parties.
That Pippen guy is a joke. He hates it when people call him Pippen. A buddy of mine and his brother were at a Bears' game once and the Pippen guy came by before the game began. My buddy's brother bought a beer and tipped him $20 to ensure a stead supply of beer for the game. He made a "Pippen" crack and Russell (I think that's Pippen's real name) ignored him the rest of the game. Come on dude, you're selling the same thing as all the other beer vendors-if you have something that makes you stand out, use it!

You'd have to get a good representation of the different eras in White Sox history, so.....Mine are:
1."Olden-Times"- Ted Lyons: Come on, he played forever for the White Sox through some pretty tough years. Arguably the best White Sox pitcher of all time.
2. '59 Team- Nellie Fox: Most recognizable White Sox player from that team
3. Frank Thomas. 'nough said.
4. 2005 Team: Either Ozzie, Konerko and Buehrle. Growing up primarily during the late '90s and the early 2000s, it was the culminating moment of my youth. You can't ask me to choose who would represent that team, it's like asking a mother which child of hers is her favorite. :D:

Numbers wise, those were super years (as was 1993).
I just don't think he put the team on his back like Allen did.
But I can't argue with you.
Someone mentioned Belle below; those numbers were largely earned in the 2nd half, when we were way out of it. So I'd say no.

Wilbur Wood Jim Kaat Bill Melton and Richie Allen
Is that a joke or serious? Could go both ways for me. Good players, but they're from the '70s---not a good time for us.

Athlon Sports magazine Baseball issue and Geico came out with the 4 best of all MLB teams who would go up on Mt Rushmore.
Hard to argue with the Sox selections but I sure wish Nellie was in the top 4.

Hard to argue with either of them, but who do you replace?
The only one of the 4 that I think has to be there is Frank Thomas.

I didn't think Harry Caray was anyone's favorite player.
I would think the fact that Harry Caray hated the White Sox when he was announcing their games and hated them more (or at least was more vocal about it) after he went to the Cubs, would keep him off of any such monument.

Looking back through the thread I'm amazed at the degree to which Minnie Minoso has dropped out of Sox fans' collective memories.
Admittedly he just missed my final four cut (Appling, Thomas, Fox, Lyons), but take a look at these career numbers of a guy who, because of the color line and the off-the-radar nature of Latin players, didn't hit the bigs until he was 26 years old--and in an age when pitching was starting to move into an era of dominance:
http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/minosmi01.shtml
Nine real good years for the Sox, 51-57, 60-61. In my book a good case could be made for putting him in the final four.

Konerko has had a very good career with the Sox, but quite frankly if I could put a player in his prime from recent memory on my team I'd rather have Ventura or Magglio Ordonez.

Shouldn't all four be from (mostly) different eras? That's how Mount Rushmore works, largely.
