What's odd is that this uniform used to be their road uniform, yet they will be only wearing this for Friday home games this year. :?:

Is that Jesse Barfield or Jorge Bell in the photo? I can't quite make out who it is...

In 2010 they're going to bring back the Kelly Gruber Era uni's for a little kick on the road...

I've read that the original Blue Jays uniform was designed after a hockey uniform.

Lloyd Moseby and John Mayberry.

Moseby, Jesse Barfield and George Bell made up a pretty good Jays outfield back in the days.

Those are the unis they had when I was a kid, so I like them...having said that, it's nice to see the Blue Jays actually wearing BLUE. But I'd rather see them wear the unis that they wore in 1992 when they won the WS

What's with all the old uniforms coming back? Cleveland already did that, as did the Phillies I think.

I typed my post, jokingly, looking at the picture of Vernon Wells. It wasn't until I had, laughingly, already posted that I saw the Moseby pic. I chuckled aloud.

Yes, that was a pretty friggin tough OF back in the day.

Finally, will this move inspire the KC Royales w/ Cheese to go back to the Bo Jackson - George Brett baby blues as well? Could this lead to a powder blue revolution? If it became trendy, I'm sure we'd see the Flubs breaking out the circa-1978 Bruce Sutter edition as well... LOL

Those are fantastic uniforms. So much better than the ones they have now. Good work Blue Jays.

Time for us to bring back the '83 unis?

The Royals hinted last year that they might be going back to the baby powder blue road unis. I always liked them. Certain teams had good color combinations with the light blue. The Royals, Blue Jays and Phillies all come to mind.

I love the '83 unis, but that era has moved on. I'm content with the ones we have currently...The Royals going back to baby blue would be cool too, but since they got rid of the black alternate I don't mind their uniform at all. The only other team that I wish would change their uniform now is the Mets. They have no buisness wearing black. Either do the Jays, this is a step in the right direction.

Yeah I like them too, especially the Indians one. It's just strange that 3 teams have brought them back just this year. It makes me wonder what else we're going to see.

less black across the league is a good thing. I would love to see the Royals back on blue and the cardinals for that matter. Not the sox though

Hell yes. Those 'black jay' jersies were awful. Just bring back the old logo for good. The Mets, Royals and Rockies now need to go back to their original colors and get the black out of their unis as well.

I think it started with Milwaukee a few years back.

The Royals have all but eliminated black from their unis, I don't think they wore the black alternate jersey at all last year...the Rockies I think always wore black too.

What's with all the black uni hate? Some teams do a great job of it. Mets black is alright and the Rockies black only looks awful because of the stupid white on the edges of the vest.

Powder blue from KC? Ask and you shall receive. http://kansascity.royals.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20071207&content_id=2320779&vkey=news_kc&fext=.jsp&c_id=kc

Don't forget the Marlins. They started out with a uniform has a color we here at WSI know and love, found in the fifth column of the second row on the font color chart.

The Mets colors were a combination of Dodger blue and Giant orange. Dodgers were blue and white. Giants were orange and black.

Lloyd Moseby and John Mayberry. The sad irony is that Lloyd Moseby, apparently, hated those jerseys.

I think the mets black is awful. Marlins do it well. We do it great obviously. Torontos is terrible.

I like the new KC light blue jerseys coming back even as a home field alternate. I think they would look pretty good as a road alternate as well. I'm glad they ditched the black alternate they tried a few years ago. I think it was the same year when Oakland had a black alternate. I guess we can point to our SOX as the trend setter.

Regarding the BLue Jays, I like the tip to nostaligia, however I never liked the pull-over/softball look. I think they should keep the jerseys button down and simply move the Jay bird head over to the left or right of the buttons.

I wonder how Big Frank is going to look in the pull-over?! :D:

For a minute there I thought they were following the "Rays" and dropping the Blue and ending up with this as their logo

Eeee...those I don't like. A blue top with white pants? Either fully commit or don't do it at all. Plus powder blue should really only be worn on the road.

FedEx, I don't hate ALL black on uniforms, I think it looks well on the Sox, Rockies and the Marlins oh and Baltimore too. I just don't like it when teams throw into their color scheme and they've never had a history of wearing it (like the Mets, Royals and Blue Jays).

ANY black baseball uniform is better than this crap IMO:

http://www.baltimoresun.com/media/photo/2004-11/14987487.jpg

Add the Saints, Jaguars, Bengals, and Falcons to the list too of teams that go all-black sometimes and look like idiots while doing so.

Don't really like the Royals new powder blues. Maybe if they got rid of the piping around the letters. Jays are all right.

I agree, black only works when it is actually part of the team's color scheme, like the Sox. The only other teams that do black well are the Orioles, and maybe the Marlins. The Mets still wear the orange and blue pinstripe ones without black, which are their best home uniforms, I think. If I remember correctly, they wore them a few times in the '06 NLCS.
Bad alternate uni list, in no particular order:
Toronto (black)
Boston (red)
Atlanta ("red")
Pittsburgh (red)
Cincinnatti (black- do they still wear this one?)
Houston (maroon)
NY Mets
Arizona (black, but only because they look like spring training jerseys)
Colorado (the black works, but lose the black vests)

KC (black), and the Cubs (blue) have had the good sense to get rid of their really bad alternates.
