Besides the obvious:
Thunderstruck
Don't Stop Believin
Na Na, Hey Hey, Kiss Him Goodbye
He's a Pirate
Let's Go Go Go White Sox

...which songs remind you of the White Sox and why?

For me, it's "Knocking on Heaven's Door" by Bob Dylan. As Fox went to commercial after the top of the 8th of Game 4 of the World Series, that song was played. That's when I realized what was about to happen. That song was so fitting for the moment, and to this day it reminds me of that night.

"Anytime" by My Morning Jacket

I was at their concert for Game 1 of the World Series, and they closed with "Anytime," and as the song started, a roadie posted the final score on Jim James' mic.

I thought Cum On Feel the Noise by Quiet Riot during the Summer of 1983 was a great song then for the Sox. I played it when the Sox won the ALDS in 2005.

This might sound dumb but "Steam" by Peter Gabriel because I used to hear it around/in the park when I was little and my dad took me to Sox games. So this would probably have to be like 1992 or 1993 when that song came out.

This is the song played in the 2006 ESPN opening night video. I have it saved and I watch it all the time. It brings back some great memories.

Since I was in my college dorm during the '05 and couldnt watch any games on TV, I listened to the games on the radio. During the postgame show, "when the levee breaks" would always play during the final months of the season when the team was struggling

I'll throw in another vote for "Sweet Home Chicago".

Also, Queen's "We Will Rock You" as it was played relentlessly in Comiskey in the early 90's after Mighty Ducks came out. I was a kid just getting into the Sox and I remember banging on the seat and clapping my hands to that song at games. Good times.

Summer In The City - Lovin' Spoonful

Back in the early 80's there was a TV special called "Different as Night and Day" hosted by Greg & Bryant Gumbel that contrasted the Sox and Cubs. As I remember it, the song was used during the opening of the show.

Lake Shore Drive - Aliotta, Haynes & Jeremiah

Doo Wah Ditty - Manfred Mann

When I was kid my uncle and his friends would always rent school buses and pack us all in to go to games. We would do a few a year and we would always sing Doo Wah Ditty. It just stuck and whenever I hear that song it reminds me of going to ball games in a packed school bus.

Sweet Home Chicago, Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye, Living on a Prayer, Thunderstruck, Don't Stop Believin,

...and any of the songs that we play over and over on our tailgates. Everyone who comes out knows what tracks and what songs are playing or are gonna play. On mullet night I'd say 99% of the canned songs were part of the tailgate set list and I dont know what that says about me :gulp: but I thought it was pretty cool.

Since this offseason began I would have to think that
"You Can't Always Get What You Want" - Rolling Stones
would be appropriate.

But, normally when I think White Sox, I think of Nancy on the organ playing "Na na na na...Na na na na...Hey hey hey...goodbye"

After the '05 series parade, WGN played a great song "We Are One Tonight" - Switchfoot and hearing it now always makes me smile...and remember

What song does Konerko play when he comes to bat?

Well, he doesn't play anything. I did sit close enough once to hear him humming "Mmmmmmbop" by Hanson while walking to the plate.

As far as his "at-bat" stadium music; that would be 'Harvester of Sorrow' by Metallica.

There is a song that Nancy Faust plays before the games, I have no idea what it is, but it's been played in a Sprint cell phone commercial recently, and every time I hear it it brings me back to the park, great stuff.

I'll have to youtube a lot of these songs in here and see if they match up

"Rosanna," by the band Toto.

It's not the record itself that reminds me of the White Sox. The song is a stupid piece of drivel that became a hit in the U.S. because of the lack of musical taste by the record-buying public (of which I was a member).

But Nancy Faust used to play it A LOT during White Sox games during the mid-1980s. When I think of the song, I don't think of the record. I think of the sound of Nancy's playing, which means I'm mentally back in the stands at the real Comiskey Park, watching Harold Baines in his physical prime and Ron Kittle, along with an aging Carlton Fisk still managing to perform on the ballfield and this kid of a shortstop named Ozzie something-or-other who just might amount to something someday.

"I'd do anything for Love" - Meatloaf

Seriously.

I realized I never said why.

Many times when I listen to music, I hear certain lines and I immediately think of something that lasts as a mental image or a face or a moment. I'll hear a certain song and remember exactly the first time I heard it; or what was happening in the world when the song was popular, or even reminds me of things completely unrelated to it; like this song and the Chicago White Sox.

With this song, various lines make me think of various things connected to the White Sox, their history, and their eventual winning of the World Series. If I ever learn how to make a slideshow/video on the computer (I keep trying, I'm not very good, mind you) I'd probably do something involving things like this for the song:

For example:

"And I would do anything for love
I'd run right into hell and back"
http://www.dkimages.com/discover/previews/906/50476275.JPG
I would do anything for love
I'd never lie to you and that's a fact
But I'll never forget the way you feel right now,
Oh no, no way
And I would do anything for love, but I won't do that
No, I won't do that

Anything for love
Oh, I would do anything for love
I would do anything for love, but I won't do that
No, I won't do that

Some days it don't come easy
Some days it don't come hard
Some days it don't come at all, and these are the days that never end

(Game 3, 2005 World Series.)

Some nights you're carved in ice
Some nights you're like nothing I've ever seen before or will again"

"Maybe I'm crazy, but it's crazy and it's true

And I'll be there until the final act

http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/pic/PHO/AAGS243~05-World-Series-Game-4-Bobby-Jenks-A-J-Pierzynski-Celebrate-Posters.jpg

I would do anything for love, and I'll take a vow and seal a pact
But I'll never forgive myself if we don't go all the way, tonight
I would do anything for love
Oh, I would do anything for love
Oh, I would do anything for love, but I won't do that
No, I won't do that

I would do anything for love
Anything you've been dreaming of, but I just won't do that
I would do anything for love
Anything you've been dreaming of, but I just won't do that
I would do anything for love
Anything you've been dreaming of, but I just won't do that
I would do anything for love
Anything you've been dreaming of, but I just won't do that

Some days I pray for silence
Some days I pray for soul

"Some days I just pray to the god of sex and drums and rock 'n' roll"
http://soxmachine.com/images3/aj0908.jpg

"Some nights I just lose it all when I watch you dance and the thunder rolls"
(This is the part I picture the opening montage, especially from 2007.)

"Maybe I'm lonely, that's all I'm qualified to be
That's just one and only, the one and only promise I can keep"
(I picture Sox pitchers staring in for the sign, especially Black Jack and his intense stare.)

"As long as the wheels are turning
As long as the fires are burning

http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/cws/photo/2004_community/scoreboard_message.jpg

As long as your prayers are coming true
You'd better believe it, that I would do"

(I wish I knew who this woman was, but you all will know exactly who I'm referring to. The elderly woman, in her rain poncho, with her sign of "I waited 68 years to see this." from Game 2.)

{skip a lot of lyrics here, as this post would go on for pages on its own.}

"But I'll never stop dreaming of you ev'ry night of my life, no way"
(This would be a personal picture I have of my son holding his White Sox teddy bear sleeping.)

Will you raise me up? will you help me down?
Will you get me right out of this godforsaken town?
(The Sox plane arriving back in Chicago after winning the Series.)

Will you make it all a little less cold?

Boy:

I can do that
I can do that

Girl:

Will you hold me sacred? Will you hold me tight?
Can you colourise my life, I'm so sick of black and white?
Can you make it all a little less old?

"Will you make me some magic with your own two hands?"
(Konerko spitting into his gloves)
Will you build and emerald city with these grains of sand?
(A closeup of Ozuna's/Pods hands reaching for second on a steal attempt, the sand kicking up.)
Can you give me something I can take home?"
(Giveaways at the park.)

"Will you cater to every fantasy I got?"
(Family Field Day, Picnic at the park, autographs and shaking hands with players.)

"Will you hose me down with holy water, if I get too hot?"
http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/blogs/bats/posts/nohitter.190.jpg
Will you take me places I've never known?

Boy:

I can do that
Oh no, I can do that

"After a while you'll forget everything
It was a brief interlude and a midsummer night's fling
And you'll see that it's time to move on"

(Just the very nature of baseball, seasons ending, players retiring/leaving. I think of Big Frank, Pudge, and others)

Girl:

I know the territory, I've been around
It'll all turn to dust and we'll all fall down
Sooner or later you'll be screwing around
(maybe an image of me buying Cubs tickets)

Boy:

I won't do that
No, I won't do that

Anything for love
Oh, I would do anything for love
I would do anything for love, but I won't do that
No, I won't do that

All right, that's it. But just in case anyone was wondering how the heck Frontman can relate Meat Loaf to the Sox; here you go.

Most of mine revolve around 2005, so clearly Don't stop Believin' by Journey...

"Thunderstruck" by AC/DC because it's part of the 2nd best opening introduction ever to the Bulls' Sirius...

"Top of the World" by Van Halen-- In the middle of the summer of 2005 I was leaving a home day game against the Royals that the Sox dominated and Mark Buehrle won in just over 2 hours... after the win, the Sox held the best record in baseball over the Cardinals and fittingly they played this song as the fans exited USCF that day...

"In the Air Tonight"--Nonpoint....for many years this was the postseason commercial song, while it wasn't in 2005, it remains a great remake of the original and is awesome to listen to and think of the Sox...

"Wrapped in my memory" by Shawn Smith-- this was the song they used for the Sox intro to opening night 2006 on ESPN... I didn't see it the first time because I was at the game to see the banners raised, but it was a great song to go along with the video they used... I downloaded the intro ESPN did and it still brings a tear to my eye each time I watch it...
