Sportsline reports that this was from the Tribune today, but I couldn't find it.

The Royals, who seem to have stumbled on some hidden cash, not only signed outfielder Jose Guillen, are also talking about taking on Sammy Sosa as well, as reported by the Chicago Tribune. They also feel they are in the sweepstakes for Japanese pitcher Hiroki Kurodahttp://www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/MLB_SC-RUMOR

Sosa and Jose Guillen? Such fine upstanding role models the Royals are adding to their club.

I read on MLBtraderumors (and they had a link to support it) that Sosa was actually the one who went to the Royals to market himself, but they weren't interested since their OF and DH positions are pretty full.

We can't underestimate the Royals. At this point they have a better chance at Andruw Jones than we do. It's sad but true.

That's because in his illustrious career, Sammy hasn't been able to obtain a World Series Championship ring and the Royals offer him his best opportunity.

...or he could just be interested in padding his already, inflated statistics.

We won exactly three more games than the Royals last season.

The Royals have an extra $1.1M they can give to Sosa since Guillen was suspended.

They'll probably take a look at Bonds also.

So in our worst season in 16 years we finished 4 games better than the Royals. I think you now see what he was talking about.
