So I guess no more late-March two-game exhibitions at Turner Field in Atlanta?? Memphis is not impossible, but it's a 6.5 hour trip for me as opposed to the 30 minute ride to Atlanta. I was hoping they were going to keep the Atlanta exhibition games considering the Sox never play Atlanta in the regular season. Hmmm.

I've been to AutoZone Park. It's real nice and in the heart of downtown Memphis. Bring your wallet and appetite, there is plenty of good eats around there. Not only is there Rendezvous Ribs (mentioned in the article), but Beale Street is only a couple of blocks away.

I wonder how hard tickets will be to get. Hey Dump, how far is it from Graceland?

It's a pretty good drive. Graceland is not anywhere near downtown.

Beale Street is where Elvis laid down his roots once he landed in Memphis. There are a lot of clubs there that jazz and blues lovers would really enjoy.

And you can see the ducks coming down to the lobby! Although the Trib did say that in the article. One of the dumber, yet still somewhat entertaining, traditions I've ever seen.

Some damn good 'cue in that town.

I know where Graceland is in relation to Beale Street, I was just wondering if it was closer to the park. Thanks though dude.

Major League Baseball announced that the White Sox will play the Mets in the second annual Civil Rights Game. It will played March 29 in Memphis at AutoZone Park, home of the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds

The walk form Beale to the Stadium is about the same distance as the walk from Gate 5 to Jimbos.

So how much do you guys think that tickets will go for? Hopefully they will be affordable, and as mentioned before, this would be a fun little road trip.

The White Sox and Mets playing ball in Memphis. I like it. Has a nice ring to it.

Nothing like two overlooked and underappreciated big market teams playing ball amidst the smell of BBQ, under the giant shadow of Elvis. The Civil Rights Game could not have two better opponents.

Lol it's Tennessee, not Miami. On average it's in the 50s in March with highs in the 60s.

soxfan13: "You haven't been to Memphis in ages, skottyj. No one's gonna remember you."

sbsoxfan (looking at statue of skottyj): "I think it's possible they might. ... Uh, skottyj, you wanna tell me how come there's a statue of you here looking at me like I owe him something?"

skottyj: "Wishin I could, sbsoxfan."

sbsoxfan: "No, seriously, you want to tell me?"

skottyj: " Look, sbsoxfan, I got no ruttin' idea. I was here a few years back, like I said. Pulled a second-story, stole a lot of scratch from the King up on the hill. But things went way South. I had to hightail it. They don't...put you on a pedestal in town square for that."

sbsoxfan: "Yeah, 'cept I'm lookin' at some fair compelling evidence says they do."

Might have to make this one. Haven't been to Memphis since the 1982 Liberty Bowl (Illini vs. Alabama)...it will be nice not to have to sleep in a car and listen to 'Bama fans yelling "Roll Tide!" for 2 days....

I'm very excited that my White Sox are coming into town and i haven't seen them play since August "05" at the Cell. I don't live to far from Memphis, i actually live outside of Memphis about 35 min drive in a small suburb called Collierville. I really hope alot of Sox fans will make the trip to Memphis, its a nice little park within walking distance to Beale Street. I know i will be there with my bros and fellow Chicagoans. Peace out!!

Was this a day game or night game last year? It's only about 6 hours from Champaign, which would be a drive but not too bad.

I thought that this was a night game last year, but they have it as a 4:00 p.m. game this year. Would be nice to go, but wouldn't want to pay any more than $30 just to see a special preseason game.

I found the tickets, I'm really debating whether to get them right now.

There are some great seats out right now, and I don't know how fast they will go. I would think that they should be around for a while, but I don't know. Also don't know how many people that I might bring down with me at this point.

Rendezvous is so overrated. Interstate BBQ for ribs is by far the best place in Memphis.
