Yeah Kenny decided to keep him locked up in his room for 4 years until it was time come out and play.

Hopefully, he doesn't suffer the same fate as Shingo.

Nice research, gang!
Thus Iguchi, after three years in the Major Leagues (he signed with the White Sox as a free agent from Japan in January of 2001), is now free to negotiate with all 30 teams.
Excellent math skills as well.
Hopefully, he doesn't suffer the same fate as Shingo.
It's not the same situation as Shingo's. The Phillies either had to re-sign him or release him to free agency (it was in his contract). Gooch will be fine; at the very least he'll be hell of a backup, but I still think he can start for a couple more years.

Can gooch play other positions? If so, I'd take a flyer on him as a utility guy who could take over at 2B if Richar failed.

I think the bigger question is, will Richar be any better than Iguchi?

Tadahito Iguchi was waived today. I hope Kenny signs him. I'm not sold on Richar.
