I just happen to have WGN on. I know, that's my first mistake. A disgruntled Cubs fan calls in and proposes this trade...Pie and Theriot to the Sox for Jon Garland. Kaplan just said that it would never happen. I thought Cub fans didn't care about us.

Throw in Gallagher or Marshall and we have a deal.

Umm....no. A pitcher for two position players? One, Theriot, will be a sophomore next year, how do we know he isn't a Mark Fidrych? The other, Pie, is their version of Brian Anderson-AAA standout, MLB bust.

Garland is going to be a 20 game winner. He has also commented he did not like the Cubs' organization or coaches. But since he's not a 5/10 guy, his opinion means nothing.

You're right, Cub fans don't care about us. The proposed trade does nothing for us and helps the Cubs a ton.

Sure he is. :smokin:

But Pie and Theriot don't interest me.

Thank you. Now wait for all the people to come and lecture us about how he's such a good scrappy player.

Not really sure I see any comparisons. Pie is only 22, he's going to be pretty damn good. They need to send someone over that's not named Theriot, though.

I still rather have Garland. He's a proven commodity.

Jerome Walton was only 22 once. So was Brian Anderson. Neither of them have been pretty damn good yet.

Based on what evidence?

Yes, having won 18 games twice in the last 3 years, I can see why 20 would be a hell of a stretch.

thats a bold statement. what are we talking about as far as the terms? before he retires? in the next few yrs? on the white sox? in the NL? i'd be willing to put money on it or anything else of value up that he will NOT win 20 games, unless he gets traded to the yankees or boston. then he might have a shot. he MIGHT have a chance in the NL. still i feel safe in saying he's not ever going to be a 20 game winner.

Make it Marmol, Cedeno, and Pie and I'm listening.

I don't know what worse all these arm chair gm trade thoughts or the ones offered to me in fantasy football for antonio gates. Those go like: adrian peterson (bears), brian griese, + someone on ir or a left tackle for gates....oh and could you also thow in hines ward and drew brees with gates and then i'll give desmond clark. :?:
