Unbelieveable.

Thanks for further jacking up the market for recently released journeymen relievers, Pat Gillick:

So...essentially Boston's garbage is worth 4 million a year? Yikes.

So an average reliver gets 4 million a year? Suddenly I feel better about our bullpen.

But remember we're going to see a 'market correction...' LOL

Geton:

With the results they put up this past season, I'm not.

I understand that, but if he gets 4 million what would an above average reliever get? 6 million? Not only that if relievers get that much what can Garland realistic based on market demand? Thank god we resigned Mark when we did imagine what he would get. Also this might increase Contreras' value. If a reliever like Romero gets 4 million and he makes what 10 million.

So what. This is Gillick's last year and he only needs pitching, really. Since when does Pat ****ing Gillick set the standard anyway?

I liked his first move with Houston, this one not so much.

Romero has no control. I don't understand how you can throw that much money at a reliever that doesn't throw strikes.

Even Uribe's biggest detractors would have to admit he's a steal at 4.5 million if Romero is worth 4.

Neither one is worth that, Brian.

I agree. However, it's all relative.

Salaries aren't set by common sense, they're set by whatever owners are willing to pay.
