Michael Young should have won over Jeter. The media loves their golden boy Jeter so much. Again, these awards are popularity contests.

Is defense a factor just like offense is a factor in the Gold Glove award? :D:

Pujols has been winning the NL SS at 1B for many years. Glad to see Prince win one.

Curtis Granderson gets snubbed in favor of Ichiro for both a gold glove and a silver slugger. Grandy had him beat in doubles, triples, homers, runs, rbi, slugging, OPS.... ok, so he didn't hit .350, he only hit .302. But he had 84 extra base hits compared to 35 for Ichiro. Sounds like a better "slugger" to me.

The fact that Rollins was taken over Hanley was an even bigger snub.

Yup. That one is pretty bad.

While I agree Ramirez was snubbed, Rollins had one great season. It wasn't like Ryan Theriot won it over Hanley.

I think the SS Awards are by far more accurate than the GG. At least the guy who wins a disputed position's GG had a top season as well.

Tulo should've won the GG over Rollins too.

Just saying...

He (Rollins) did have a good year.

Didn't Rollins have a 20-20-20-20 season this year (at least 20 doubles, 20 triples, 20 homers, 20 steals)? I think that him and Curtis Granderson became the first people to do it since Willie Mays in 1957, and it's only happened like four times in baseball history. Granted Hanley Ramirez had a very good year, but Rollins was just as good, if not, better candidate.

Ramirez beat out Rollins in Batting Average, Doubles and SB's, however Rollins beat Ramirez in RBI's, Runs (by a lot) and just edged him out in Home Runs. Granted, Ramirez plays home games in pitcher's park and Rollins is in a better lineup, but Rollins did everything out of the leadoff spot, Ramirez was batting third for a good portion of the season. Also, Rollins was still able to hit .296 while having the most AB's in a season ever with 716.

I think you could give it to either one of them. Personally, I think Rollins should have just as good of a shot at the MVP as Holliday. You can look at how he carried the Phillies throughout the season offensively, but his defense is right up there with the best in the league.

These awards have become pretty much meaningless.
