There's an interesting article on Yahoo! Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-bonds-halloffame&prov=ap&type=lgns) about how Barry Bonds says he won't go into the Hall of Fame if the ball from his 756th homerun goes, too.

Barry Bonds would boycott Cooperstown if the Hall of Fame displays his record-breaking home run ball with an asterisk. That includes skipping his potential induction ceremony.

...So, if the Hall goes through with the asterisk display?

"I will never be in the Hall of Fame. Never," Bonds said. "Barry Bonds will not be there."Send the ball to Cooperstown!

Boy that's great news, I've been afraid that the Big Hurt and Barry would be inducted in the same year, and I know that Bonds and his "no show" would steal the show for the media, but at least his fat head wouldn't be there to block the sun at the actual ceremony.

Pity...

Hopefully he is a man of his word. I doubt it.

Now he'll never post on WSI. Never. Barry Bonds will not post here.

Where can I send money to help pay for the shipment of this ball to Cooperstown, and the construction of an elaborate display ?

I will pay for the flight and the security detail to make sure the ball arrives in its proper state:

Here's what I'd like to see the next time Bonds comes to The Cell...

Everyone holds up a small (8.5" X 11") poster with an asterisk.

You don't need a fancy display case, they could simply paint a background on the wall and attach the baseball to it. Something that commemorates Barry's career achievements.

I've got a suggestion...

Cooperstown will not display it with that joke of an asterisk on it. Barry won't have to worry, unless he is not voted in.

Providing of course that King Barroid does get into the HOF.

Since Hollywood is into making so many remakes of old movies, perhaps they can do a remake a classic with just a slight change in Barry's honor.

Our title, in big flashing lights:

A * IS BORN!

I give him credit for one thing, he stands by what he believes in and has pride. Can't fault a man for that, even if we all know he is full of it.

With that being said, no shame if he's not inducted.

Actually Dale Petroskey has said Cooperstown would like to have the ball regardless, even though they don't endorse any side in the argument.

I give him credit for one thing, he stands by what he believes in and has pride.

I couldn't feel more different.

To me, his stance is kind of validating the asterisk in a round-about way.

If he chooses not to recognize the ceremony at the Hall in person, it's an act confirming that what the ball represents isn't valid. Not the right way to fight the controversy.

Go, say, "I'm here to celebrate my accomplishment, I worked hard at it, I didn't cheat, and because I feel the Hall is the ultimate form of recognition of the best accomplishments in baseball history, I'm here to stand behind what this ball represents and why it's here...whether people choose to believe it's worthiness, brand it, or not." (or something along those lines)

But not showing up at all? Why are you hiding Barry, if you didn't do anything wrong? It's just giving people a reason to continue thinking you're a cheater....

As any sociopath would. He keeps repeating the lies to himself and others over and over again, and now, he actually believes them.

Well, Bo Jackson used to, maybe he still does. But I think that was because of a speech impediment.

This story serves as a perfect example of what happens when you coddle somebody and never call them to account for their actions.

For the crime of ignoring the steroids abuse running rampant inside their clubhouses... and for the crime of selling a bogus homerun race to the fans all in the name of "saving baseball"... and for the crime of letting the game's biggest egomaniac hide behind the pathetic lisping "trainer" who repeatedly spends time in jail rather than give up the goods on this egomaniac -- his meal ticket to a better standard of living (i.e. better than a flophouse), Major League Baseball must now decide whether the baseball or the steroid freak who hit it should be in the Hall of Fame.

Naturally the egomaniac thinks MLB is weak enough to give in to his threats. Pfft... why would he think anything to the contrary? MLB has never shown itself to possess a spine at any point during this debacle.

The choice is easy for me. I like DumpJerry's idea. Bolt the ****ing ball to the Hall of Fame's front door. Barroids can set up shop across the street, right next door to Pete Rose's place. Not even the miserable curmudgeons with HOF voting credentials will ever vote him in after that.

Unlike the steroid freak, Pete has been humbled enough to at least beg for admittance. The current egomaniac has no idea how much further his fall from grace might plunge him... if MLB will show even half as much spine as it already has in Rose's case.

Anticipate this scenario:

1) Bonds will not be voted into the HOF in his first year's eligibility. (If nothing else, the writers will at least tell themselves they've "sent a message.)

2) Bonds actually, honestly becomes outraged over this and refuses to show up at all once he is eventually voted in.

Hence, no problem!

Cardinals fans chirping about roids is pretty ironic.

That's the first thing I laughed about. While I hate Bonds, Cards fans have no right to boo/criticize somebody on steroids

You have and cheer and respect Steroid Enabler No. 1 Tony LaRussa and you cheered/respect Mark McGwire.

Still though I like their idea.

Heh. Funny, I don't think he needs to worry about going to the HoF now, considering he got indicted on perjury and other charges.

Sorry to see they couldn't have busted him prior to the 756 homer, but hey; better late than never.
