Reports are Joey Cora candidate for Pittsburgh job & Grady Little fired in LA. How about Grady being W. Sox next bench coach? Brings much needed experience missing since Joe Nossek left.

They did alright in 2005 without Nossek. According to KW, Ozzie gets the final say in all coaching decisions, so it would probably be someone he knows pretty well. I don't think the bench coach will make much difference in wins and losses however. Wasn't Harold Baines technically the bench coach when they won the WS?

Little is more qualified for the Pittsburgh job (having managed) and Cora is more qualified for the Sox bench job (having his head up Ozzie's ass).

I don't think Cora brings anything to the table, but I'm not particularly impressed with Little either. I don't see it happening.

I didn't see a problem with letting Baines sleep in the dugout as bench coach.

Was that a subtle jab at Harold? Quite frankly, he's probably the most baseball intelligent guy on that coaching staff. I don't have any problems with Baines.

Exactly. We just need a bench coach that naps on the job and we'll be world champs once again!

LOL

I'm a fan of Harold as bench coach....the old adage "physician, do no harm".

Good to see all the anti-Ozzie, paranoid, conspiracy theorists posting in this thread.

I'm available. I'll sit there with WSI on my laptop and tell Ozzie what everyone here thinks should be done in the next inning.....

Wasnt Sandy Alomar, Jr. rumored to be coming over a coach at one time?

Does the bench coach have any card playing responsibilities, or is that the domain solely of the hitting coach?

Trib is talking about Rene Lachemann as a candidate for bench coach, should Cora leave.

I think Fred Manrique or Julio Cruz would be more likely.
