No surprises here. Bukvich did have a hell of a run for about a month, though (where his ERA dropped into the 2s). I couldn't believe what I was seeing, and then he fell back to Earth.

Comrads, the purges continue! (and with good reason..)

Bye bye Bukvich. I was at the 8/25 game against Boston, when he came in from the bullpen, and proceeded to hit the first batter with his first pitch, hit the second batter, give up a double, a walk, and a single. 5 earned runs, 0 innings pitched. That was probably as disgusted as I've ever been with anyone on the Sox in a long time. Don't let the door hit you on your gigantic ass on the way out.

It's a long list.

Kenny needs to clean up his mess.

HOORAY!
Buckvick was one of my many White Sox bullpen tormentors in 2007.

C'ya. I hope to never see you pitch again.

I hope Kenny does not forget about Pods and Mike Myers.

OwensOwens has done nothing to write himself a ticket out of town like some of the other guys you mentioned. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have Hunter/Rowand in center next year, but Owens would be fine off the bench, or filling in as the poor-man's Pods in left field where his arm wouldn't be as much of a liability.

Five months too late. :D:

Rejoice nonetheless.

Well, that was during crap time when the team was already comfortably in fourth place. He never did anything when it really mattered.

Hopefully they have a SIGNIFICANT upgrade in mind for him.

When the team's going bad there's always a guy like BBukvich who comes in and walks the first two guys. This year he had lotsa company. Good riddance to all of ya. Came from nowhere, went right back.

LOL... One of my favorite expression ever. The Marines in Jacksonville love to wear t-shirts with the slogan you ripped off...

"The beatings will continue until morale improves."

Bukvich, ok that's fine. But why is the corpse of Mike Myers
(http://www.baseball-reference.com/m/myersmi01.shtml)still around?

Um, excuse me. [Mod edit: This crack cost you six months. Enjoy your respite from the mods and be grateful you weren't given a permanent whack.] but who is to say they didn't rip it off from me. My lawyer was slow in filing the copyright paperwork.

I was unaware that Myers was under contract with any team for 2008.

Cintron, Erstad, MacDougal, Myers, Gonzales---->those are the obvious moves, with superior replacements readily available at a league minimum.

Then there are a bunch of upgrades that would be nice.

Bukvich had an ERA run....one of those streaks where he'd come in a game with 2 outs, allow 2 baserunners and 3 runs to score, and then get 1 out; the next inning, he'd get a couple of outs, give up a couple of hits, and someone would bail him out.

The Sox have an option on Myers worth $1.1M for 2008.

And they have 15 days after the Series ends to exercize it or not, along with Uribe's and Erstad's.

Masset? I think you're going a little overboard there. He's not a reliever, he's a starter and he's still only 24. Let's see how he does as a starter.

Lip Man 1
10-28-2007, 09:28 PM
Massett is out of options. He can't be sent back to the minors without passing waivers. He's not going to crack the Sox rotation and they don't think he's well suited to pitching out of the bullpen.

They are in a tough spot with him. My guess is that he will be released and the Sox hope he'll decide to stick around.

We'll see.

He's out of options.
So either he's our fifth starter for 2008 or he's so worthless he clears waivers like Bukvich and starts for the Knights.
