Not to be a dark cloud, but history is against us in seasons ending with '8'.

Since 1908, only one White Sox team has had a winning record in years ending with '8':

1918: 57-67
1928: 72-82
1938: 65-83
1948: 51-101
1958: 82-72
1968: 67-95
1978: 71-90
1988: 71-90
1998: 80-82
2008: ????

I really hope we can break this cycle next year.........

Since the decade of the 60's the last few years of every decade has been miserable.

Check the records yourself in 1968, 1969, 1978, 1979, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1997, 1998, 1999.

To me that says, obviously, that the Sox (except for the 1950's) have not be able to sustain any success for any long period of time. Why? I can't say. And they certainly had success in the early/ middle part of the 1960's, 1980's and 1990's.

Is it too late to cancel my season tickets?

In another relevant fact, Tim McCarver noted today that the White Sox were 0-90 in games where they were outscored in 2007.

Are you sure he said White Sox? I thought I heard him say the Red Sox won every game in which they've ever played.

Really? That would explain why you have to score more runs than the other team in order to win a game.
