The play at second was obviously a blown call, but it was at least close. I can't fault the ump that much because it was close, but **** Buck and McCarver for pleasuring themselves while watching the replays and acting as if Manny made a great play.
Wait, why isn't Buck talking about what a travesty the blown call was. I mean, he spent the last 7 games of 2005 telling us how the ump had a horrible blown call on AJ, and how that changed the season. Where is the outrage, Joe?

Domeshot17

While were at it someone needs to tell Timmy what a drag bunt is. When a lefty drag bunts he takes the ball with him down the first base line, not to the 3rd.

If Cleveland wins, then are division rival has braggin rights as American League Champion and potentially as World Series Champion as well. If Boston wins, we have to deal with those incredibly annoying fans of Red Sox "Nation"

I guess as a White Sox fan, it is better that Boston won because they are not in our division and we only have to deal with them a few times next year.

I have a $50 bet going with my friend that says that, "The American League team (whomever it is) will either sweep or win in 5 against the National League Team (whomever it is)".

I made that bet because I was so confident that the American League was actual Major League Baseball and that the National League was AAA.

I still feel that way, overall, but with the way the Rockies have been playing, who knows.

I would be fine with being out $50, if it meant that the Rockies could pull it out. And who knows, anything could happen. I mean, the Rockies did take 2 of 3 from Boston during the regular season, so who knows!

Let's look at recent history:
2004: Red Sox are three outs away from elimination 4 games to 1 at the hands of The Evil Empire. Then they go on a run and win it all.
2005: The Chicago White Sox hand the Red Sox their asses to them in three straight.
2006: Still smarting over what el Duque and the White Sox did to them, the Red Sox take a pass on the playoffs.
2007: The Red Sox are one game away from elimination and then go on a run against the Indians, a team whose World Series title futility is surpassed only by You-Know-Who.

This much is obvious: Only the Chicago White Sox can stop the dang fools.

The final score doesn't represent how close of a game it was till the bottom of the 8th.

According to Tim McCarver, neither will the box score, even though it shows runs scored by inning, how many runs each pitcher gave up, and how many innings each pitcher pitched, in chronological order.

Red Sox fans will continue to be annoying even if the Rockies sweep them.

True, but it wouldn't be nearly as bad if the Rockies can somehow pull off the impossible. If the Red Sox do manage to win the Series, I think I will go ahead and sell my season tickets for the White Sox/Boston series next year at Comiskey. I don't want to be there with all those annoying ass bags.

Cleveland has no one to blame but themselves for their elimination. While watching Beckett dominate the Indians in Game 5, I turned to my friend and said, "If Cleveland can not pull this game out, Boston is going to win this thing easily." He replied with, "Are you crazy? Cleveland will still be up 3-2!" To which I replied, "Yes, but they are going home, and they only have to win 2 in a row. Cleveland already got their only win that they are going to get at Fenway." My friend still disagreed and felt that Cleveland was in control. I really wish I had put some money on that. I just KNEW that Boston would win the series once it was clear that it was going back to Boston.

If I were a Cleveland fan, there is NO WAY that I would be able to sleep tonight, just knowing how close they just got to the Series and how there are certainly no gurantees that the Indians will even be good next year. Remember before the 2006 season began, EVERYONE and their mothers had Cleveland running away with the AL Central after the run they made in late 2005. We all know how well that turned out for them in 2006.

If I were a Cleveland fan, I would be IRRATE at their 3rd base coach. I don't care what the final score was, that play completely changed the momentum of the game. If Lofton scores on that play, like he should have, the game is tied and the Indians have a damn good chance to take the lead. Instead, Boston gets out of it with no damage on an inning ending double play. That had to hurt SOOOOOOOOOO bad for Indians fans. I HATE the Indians and even I was cringing.

Also, as a Cleveland fan, I would be wondering what the hell happened to Grady Sizemore's bat! I would be cursing up a storm! And I would make sure that I had plenty of curses left for Travis Hafner. Hafner proved to me in this series that he is completely useless under pressure. His "performance" for Cleveland was just disgusting. He should personally write a letter of apology to all Indians fans. Hafner's batting reminded me of the Sox power guys (Ordonez, Lee and Thomas) in the 2000 ALDS against Seattle. Obviously, not a good memory.

On a kind of cool note though, the White Sox will be playing host at home next year to both World Series teams! That has now happened 3 years in a row, I believe. However, this time it is even cooler because the NL representative is not from the NL Central. Kinda cool how that has been working out.

What's that famous quote about box scores? Ready to surrender it's truth to the knowing eye?

Yesterday in the 8th inning Tim McCarver said something about how in the future, looking back on this game that "you'd never know it was a close game by looking at the box score."

Were you just looking for that quote or is there actually a famous quote about box scores?

Why do you wonder about Sizemore's bat? Why does everybody think he is such a great hitter? Take a look at his stats- he's a .270 hitter, always has been, strikes out a lot and hits 20 homers. Josh Fields stats were nearly as good in 2/3 of a season! I, for one, am tired of hearing about the great Grady and how he can take over a game.

True, but it wouldn't be nearly as bad if the Rockies can somehow pull off the impossible.

The Rockies defeating the Red Sox in a seven game series is far from impossible.

I was cheering for the Indians, but then I started to remember what total pricks the Indian fans were this year, and the fact that we have to deal with them a lot more than we do the Red Sox fans, and I decided I really didn't mind if the BoSox won.

This is how I felt about the ALCS too. I didn't want to see those classless Indians fans rub their WS trophy in Jim Thome's face.

Now, GO ROCKIES!!!

The Indians have not won a game seven since 1920. They're due.

LOL. I guess that streak stays alive.

If I'm not mistaken, the White Sox haven't even played in a postseason Game 7 since the 1919 World Series. They won that game - the only team in MLB history to win Game 7 of the World Series and lose the World Series.

3 good players and the rest is absolute crap. They are completely set up to fail, IMO.
None of those three guys have won anything, the closest was Ray Allen, who's coming off a surgically repaired ankle. Pierce is coming off a foot injury. Doc Rivers never made it past the first round as a coach. ****in' Posey is their best player off the bench and you can't sell me that Rajon Rondo is a legit point guard.

You need a bench to play with the big boys in the East and in the playoffs, they don't/won't have it. What big boys? The bigger problem is that if they run into a team that exploits the point guard and bench like the Bulls, they can't keep up with that style. As long as you can keep one of them in check, the other two won't beat you. If those three combine for an average of 55 points per game, the rest of the team will have to score 30-35 to win. I don't see that happening consistently in a 7 game series.

Those numbers are unheard of in the cable universe of today

Game 7 drew 19 million viewers on Fox and an 11.7 rating, making it the highest-rated LCS game since Game 7 between the Sox and Yankees in 2004. When the game ended at 11:55 Sunday night, 57 percent of households in the Boston area - and 86 percent of homes with the TV on - were tuned in

http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2007/10/23/some_things_up_in_the_air/?page=2

Fox Sports spokesman Dan Bell said Boston’s beloved team has a national following. “Everybody knows that the Boston Red Sox are one of the most popular teams in all of sports, so that certainly helps,” Bell said. “It’s been a terrific week of prime-time ratings for the FOX network.”

Nationally, Sunday night’s game had an 11.7 household rating. In Boston, Bell said the game scored a “phenomenal” 52.9 household rating and peaked at a 57.0 rating when Coco Crisp (http://www.bostonherald.com/search/index.bg?topic=Coco+Crisp) [stats (http://scores.heraldinteractive.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=bostonherald&page=mlb/teams/028/players.aspx?id=6439,pos=CF,team=028)] slammed into the center field wall, making the catch that ended the game.

The Hub is the seventh-largest television market in the country, while Denver is 18th. “Two good markets, two great stories,” Bell said.

FOX just killed the NFL game
Late-ending NFL coverage and the post-game show "The OT" averaged 10.8/18 for FOX at 7 p.m. CBS earned a 7.5/13 with "60 Minutes." ABC came in third with "America's Funniest Home Videos," 5.2/9. "Football Night in America" put NBC in fourth, while The CW went with "CW Now" and an "Aliens in America" repeat.

FOX stayed on top at 8 p.m., getting an 11.1/17 from Game 7 of the ALCS between the Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians. ABC moved up to second with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," 8.4/13. NBC's "Sunday Night Football" drew a 7.4/11. "Viva Laughlin" had little to sing about in its time-period debut on CBS, managing only a 4.5/7. The CW's "Life Is Wild" trailed.
