The Rox want Rocktober. Three days after the term made headlines and two days after the governor made it Colorado's official month, the Colorado Rockies vied to make it their own.
In four separate Oct. 4 registration applications, the Rockies asked the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to give them exclusive rights to the new word, for use with clothing, toys, signage and media promotions - everything from golf balls to Christmas- tree skirts.

In there is also an interesting tidbit about the term "Three-peat" in the article that I didn't know about

Rocktober has been used as a term by cheesy radio stations forever. And without reading the article, it was widely reported in the past that Pat Riley trademarked three-peat.

I remember when Riley did that.

Remember when some college kids trademarked Air McNair?
