It just occured to me that the trophy for winning the NL is so much nicer than the AL. Wonder why they haven't changed this?

The eye of the beholder.

Well, it's not like this city will ever see the NL trophy in person anyways, so it's kind of a moot point.

What's nicer about it? A bunch of brown sticks and a brown ball on top compared to a golden eagle.

Both trophy designs should be fired into the Sun and never discussed again.

I agree

Besides there is only ONE trophy that matters

I guess it is just a matter of opinion. I don't think the AL trophy is that bad and actually think it looks better than the NL trophy.

Definitely agree with the Stanley Cup being the coolest trophy in sports although I'd rank the World Series trophy 2nd. I love all the flags on that one:

Two things:

1) When the Sox won the pennant, I felt it was nice that we got a trophy for it, but I knew that wasn't what we were playing for. I wouldn't have settled for anything less than the Commissioner's Trophy.

2) When I did see the trophy up close, I noticed the teams were not engraved on the flags as they had been in the past. Did they stop doing that?

I prefer the AL trophy as well.

As for the Stanley Cup, maybe in the past it could rank at or near the top, but nowadays it's not much more then a relic. The super bowl trophy and the world series trophy are much better in my humble opinion.

The World Cup is probably the top trophy in the world though.

Yes, but I don't know when. I assume they decided it was unnecessary because everyone knows what the flags represent. I kind of liked the names though.

It also usta have the two pins on them and a wooden base. Budget considerations maybe? (teal intended)

I think the AL trophy is better looking than the NL one.

The NL trophy looks like the annual Top Sales Award they give out to door to door vacuum cleaner salesmen.

The NL trophy looks like something out of ancient Greece, like an ancient relic or something. The AL trophy looks pretty basic to me, a little more modern looking. Neither of them look all that bad though.

My buddy got the NL trophy the other day for being the top scorer in his bowling league.

the WS trophy is great, the league championship trophies are pretty dull, kinda like the comissioner

Does anyone know what kind of trophy (if any) existed when the Sox won the AL Pennant in 1959? You'd think they would have had something back then and that it is still in the team's possession.

I like the AL trophy because it has the AL logo on it. NL trophy just seems odd.

Both baseball league trophies are better looking than the George Halas and Lamar Hunt Trophies. They each look like an oversized ashtray, with the respective conference logo in the middle.

The NL trophy doesn't even really look like a trophy. I think it'd be better if they just gave the NL champs one of those Little League trophies with the batter on top.

Neither can hold a candle to the Clavet Cup. (I have become a "Corner Gas" junkie.)

I'm not much for soccer, but even I think this is probably the best looking trophy in the world...

That is, if they got rid of all those sponsored ribbons. Tacky!
